There are many factors that will impact the success of a remote job search. So, if you want to succeed, you really should approach this topic wisely: ✏️Write down your hard skills and check what remote job offers these skills could potentially match. Don’t focus on job titles at this stage but just on the description. ✏️Create a list of remote-first companies and check (on LinkedIn) who works there. This way, you’ll have an idea about the company culture and employee profiles. This will help you understand what people they tend to hire. ✏️Think about what differentiates you from other applicants. Why are you special? You must know that the competition is huge. So, what’s your unique value proposition? ✏️Prepare a CV where you’ll stress all your hard & soft skills as well as your “why”. Who are you? What can you bring to the table? What’s your track record? My tip – don’t use boring, online CV creators, but play, for example, with Canva to add some light to it. ❗️ Making a job application for a remote position stand out is about more than tailoring your resume and writing a winning cover letter. ❗️ Yes - you want to always tailor your resume for the job you are applying to, and I lean on the side of sending a cover letter with each application - but, there are a few other key things you can do to help yourself stand out in a sea of applicants: 🔸 Be sure to highlight your remote work experience: 🔹 If you've worked remotely before, this can be as simple as listing (Remote Work) behind your job title in your experience section. You can also add something like: More than 5 years remote work experience to your profile summary. 🔹 If you don't have a formalized remote position, you can highlight that you've worked with a distributed team if your place of employment has a staff in multiple locations, or even if your client base is off-site from where you work (communicating with them is actually remote work because they aren't in front of you). 🔹 Include a Technology section on your resume highlighting the current tech tools you are familiar with. 🔸It's ok if you don't have formal remote work experience! You can still stand out: 🔹 Lean into the experience you have collaborating with your team and manager to 'get things done!' 🔹 Educate the reader on how you have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Both collaboration and communication are important skills remote employers look for, and if you can highlight each on your resume, this can be beneficial! #remotework #careeradvice

Avoid getting too creative in writing job descriptions because you want to attract creative people by clearly stating the duties. Don’t play with words or keep applicants guessing—everyone's time is precious. Make your descriptions clear, honest, and straightforward.
