Moving the needle on #SustainableWine in South America 🏔🍷 Harpers Wine & Spirit Magazine spotlights our 2023 Impact Report, sharing some of the milestones we’ve achieved so far… “These include reducing greenhouse gas emissions every year with the objective of becoming carbon neutral by 2030. Lightweighting is also a focus. Going against the stream does not mean being wrong! In a recent Forbes article, Cathrine Todd, brings us the story of Hamel Family Wines and John Hamel. They have decide to dry farm their vines in Sonoma County complementing their other sustainable practices. This is so against the mainstream standpoint in their region. However, with knowledge and data, an individual could be right and the rest of the world not very much so. We have not empowered any of this to happen. The brave individuals have done it by themselves. Still, we, Atfield Technologies, believe that our climate-aware tools for viticulture will encourage more winegrowers to adapt their practices to their specific sites and micro-climates. #wine #vineyard #agtech #sustainability #microclimate

Time for British Pinot Noir?  The UK wine sector needs to prepare for climate change, and the risks and opportunities were discussed at the recent WineGB 'Conference for growth 2024'. The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change & the Environment presented a research paper on this topic, revealing that in 20 years, the average climate in the UK will be the same as Burgundy in 2005. This poses questions for the industry, such as how to keep grape varieties relevant to the changing climate and how to produce and market an ever-changing product. The 2023 grape harvest: a challenge for winegrowers all over the world! 🌍🍷   This year's grape harvest caused some anxiety among winegrowers. The risk of rotting grapes meant they had to work faster than ever to ensure a good yield – it was one of the fastest harvests ever! Many regions are disappointed with the smaller harvests, despite all their efforts, but many are also thrilled with the quality of the wines.   ⛈️Rotting fruit, hail, extreme temperatures and pest infestations were just some of this year’s challenges. Every move had to be made carefully so as not to jeopardise the entire harvest. It was a difficult season – the effects of climate change are now being felt and will have a strong impact on viticulture in the coming years. Climate change is an issue that we will have to face up to. However, the precise work allowed the winemakers to work more accurately and carefully, so they harvested fewer grapes, but of very good quality, and processed them into wine. We look forward to the new vintage! Despite the many challenges, many winemakers are pleased with the quality of their grapes.🤝   What challenges did you face during this year's harvest?
