For anyone who is curious or beginning to explore AI for communications, this podcast is a must listen. Not only does it feature two industry all-stars (Carolyn Clark, Shaun Randol), but the conversation about how to leverage AI, what it means for the industry and importantly, its limitations, is incredibly valuable in today’s quickly changing environment. My takeaways: ✅ Think of AI as a tool to support your activities. Shaun had a great analogy of comparing AI to an intern. AI is a good resource for background information or a first draft, but it still requires the expertise of a professional for the final draft. ✅ Really think about what you want your end goal to be. You’ll likely get better results if you are more thoughtful with your prompts. ✅ AI is a great tool to use for checking your comms. Audience, bias, brevity, clarity – so many options that will help make your comms more effective. Carolyn is doing some really interesting work using AI to dive deeper into personas. ❌Keep information about your personal life and your company out of AI chat bots. Information entered becomes the property of the AI companies and lives on their servers. You don’t want that information in the hands of hackers if a breach occurs. Removing personal and proprietary information should not limit the outputs from an AI chat bot.

#GenAI is Lame Where are the creative interesting #AI use-cases? So far we have seen very basic foundational AI and GenAI use-cases like writing a job description or composing your email. This is very basic and I cannot imagine it actually requires all the power that is behind GenAI. Where is the creativity? What else can we do? What else should we do? Latest surveys show that not even a quarter of HR departments are deploying GenAI in production environments - and those that do share very uninspirational use cases like (re-)writing knowledge articles. Most use-cases I see today and I came across basically see GenAI as a personal admin for some personal productivity gains. Yes, that is adding value - but really? That is it? Shall we think about GenAI really as pure personal admins of the future? Is there nothing else, more creative?
