After the much over hyped and misquoted 70 hr work week issue, can we talk a bit about this. Because in this Mr.Narayanamurthy was crystal clear about the differences amongst politicians and bureaucrats in India as compared to the way it is in other parts of the world. #narayanamurthy #70hourworkweek #indianpoliticians #indianbureaucrats #jobsinindia

The first 90 days are super critical to help a new employee settle into a new job. Managers should always lead with empathy and offer a helping hand to ensure new hires are given all the tools to succeed. At SILA, we place a lot of emphasis on this process to help employees adjust to our way of working! #HR #EmployeeEngagement #HRStrategy

JRD Tata writes an extraordinary letter.. When JRD Tata was Chairman of Tata Sons, one of the key members of his leadership team was Sumant Moolgaokar, who led Tata Motors (then called TELCO). They met once a week to discuss various issues. During one such weekly meeting, Sumant Moolgaokar disagreed with JRD Tata on an important matter. In fact, he expressed his strong reservations about a particular point of view that JRD expressed. When this happened, JRD Tata lost his temper at Sumant Moolgaokar, and said a few harsh words. Sumant Moolgaokar went away distraught that JRD was not appreciating his point of view. "What is the use? Jeh does not understand" - he said to one of his colleagues. A few days later, JRD Tata, of his own accord went across to Sumant Moolgaokar's office. He spoke to Moolgaokar at length, to understand and discuss his dissenting point of view. Then, he sent Sumant Moolgaokar an extraordinary handwritten letter, expressing his deep regret for having lost his temper. A copy of this letter is reproduced below. It said - "Dear Sumant - I apologise for my outburst. I have been under great pressure at home & on my trip to Jamshedpur, and am a bit of an insomniac to boot. So I am unduly sensitive and was hurt by your criticism which I know was well meant. My affection and admiration for you will never change. Yours ever, Jeh." It requires immense courage and humility to write a letter such as this to a member of your team. The ability to sincerely apologise for a wrong is a mark of a person's generosity and greatness. To err is human, but to say sorry for the error is the mark of a true leader. This letter holds an important lesson for each (Facsimile of JRD's letter - courtesy Tata Central Archives, Pune. #CorporateCommunication : #Engaging with #Retired #Employees... How important it is to communicate and engage with retired employees by the communication team in an organization..!! - Not just for a reunion, for gratitude towards their contribution in the success story of the organization... One day along with my #CEO i happened to attend an Engineers Day function. It was a place where most of Engineers had their unique success story. I realised, I was missing a big-link in the communication strategy of brand building. I was Heading Corporate Communication function at Hindustan Zinc and used to accompany CEO / Chairman on many occasions. As part of strengthening my Stakeholder Engagement Strategy, I decided to make an MIS of employees who had retired, after spending years of service in the organization. We were able to build a considerable data with the help of #HR, #Finance and #Administration and current #employees. The first thing that we decided was to send them our current #HouseJournal, to make them aware about what is happening in the organization presently. And here-in-after, put these names permanently in the mailing list. Second was regularly sending them #business #achievements and #community #service (#CSR) stories, so that they feel proud of the organization, to which they were part of this success journey. It was an emotional moment when I received hundreds of phone-calls and messages and emails that thanked for such reunion. They thought the organization had forgotten them. You learn this from #IndianArmy, as they always engage with the old veterans who fought many battles or criris, for want of perfect strategy to combat sudden crisis. Fortunately, and very proudly, my upbringing has an army background and there are a number of disciplines that I have learnt while being in the presence of armed forces. #corporatecommunications #internalcommunications #communications #communicationstrategy #ceo #managingdirectors #managingpartner Vedanta Group Sunil Duggal #GurukshetraConsultancyPvtLtd #pavankaushik_author_storyteller
