Michael Rösch on eurosport.de: "From the conversations I've had with the people in charge, I can say that it's simply a battle of materials that's being lost right now. The other teams have found something that works - and that makes it impossible for the German team to run at the front." What the other teams have obviously found is the proximity to science. The following research groups are active in winter sports in Norway, for example: University of Oslo, (Dept. of Mathematics as well as Department of Informatics), 3 departments of NTNU (Civil and Environmental Engineering, Department of Civil and Transport Engineering and Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering), the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, Department of Physical Performance as well as the Center for Sport Facilities and Technology (SIAT). I am not aware of any such connections for the DSV. Rösch continued: "The athletes are competing on artificial snow, which is very soft and slippery. This is another completely new situation that you have to adjust to. Everyone is starting from scratch ..." Really? Anyone who has ever skied in an indoor ski slope knows that although the snow is good for the first 3 or 4 days after production, it then disintegrates more and more into its individual parts. We have described this situation in detail in: https://lnkd.in/e2_cY-G9 and provided tips on ski preparation. Have a look!

Riveting race of knowledge! 🏁 We had the pleasure of hosting David Vicente Moya, who enriched us with his professional background and gave an intuitive overview of the Race Engineering in LMP course. The webinar also had an enlightening Q&A segment, where we navigated routes beyond the horizons of LMP. Our attendees fueled the discussion with their excellent queries and insightful comments. For those who missed it, the recording is now watchable on our platform. 🔗 Watch the webinar here: https://lnkd.in/d_bqwCyW #LMP #RaceEngineering #Motorsport #Webinar

Well I can't wait to hear Robbie MacIsaac next week at the WeDO Scotland Glasgow Networking Breakfast on Thursday 12th October! Robbie is only 22 and is in his final year on the University of Strathclyde’s BEng Product Design Engineering course. When he was just 14, he pioneered the FLUX Blowpipe, a device which ultimately could prevent respiratory issues for bagpipers. While still a schoolboy, Robbie was named the UK’s Most Innovative Young Engineer by the Manufacturing Technologies Association by winning the Technology Design Innovation challenge. In 2019 Robbie became a Scottish Edge Wild Card winner, following up with further success a year later when he won the Scottish Young Edge prize, securing five-figure funding as a reward. He was also a finalist at the Business Insider Made In Scotland Awards 2020. Since leaving school, as well as attending Uni, Robbie has been growing his business, FLUX Solutions, with increased interest and custom from the US, Canada, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand complementing sales in the UK. You also may have seen Robbie pipe his way on to Dragons' Den on BBC1 earlier this year! And as if this wasn't enough, whilst doing my homework on Robbie I came across these wise words from him: "My school's motto, 'Labor Omnia Vincit', Latin for, 'Work Conquers All,' has stuck with me. But I vividly remember my Headmaster, Mark Lauder, stressed this motto is not just about putting in the hours - it's about tackling difficult and tedious work when the going is tough. That is what creates growth." So if you want to see and hear Robbie, come along to Glaschu in Glasgow next Thursday from 8.30am to 10am! There will also be ample opportunity to network and make new connections. And thank you to Sara Davies MBE for this fabulous shot! Link to book: https://lnkd.in/enNjaM7Q
