Our Quantinuum H-Series, the worlds highest performing quantum computer, is uniquely poised to enable ground-breaking developments by researchers around the world. This engagement with RIKEN enables Japan’s first trapped ion quantum computing capability and stands as a testament to the pioneering work of our scientists and our outstanding integrated hardware and software roadmap, together accelerating innovation across the global quantum ecosystem.
After a few months in stealth mode, today we can reveal the first “on-premise” deployment of Quantinuum’s highest-performing H1-Series ion trap quantum computing technology, at a purpose-built facility at RIKEN in Japan. This multi-year arrangement with RIKEN will provide access to Quantinuum’s world-leading System Model H1, as part of the institute’s pioneering project to demonstrate the advantages of hybrid computational platforms for deployment as services in the future post-5G era. RIKEN is developing a hybrid quantum-HPC platform combining the unique capabilities of the System Model H1 with the world leading Fugaku supercomputer. This deployment will allow for hybrid quantum-classical supercomputing and will support a large-scale software research program in which RIKEN, together with collaborators SoftBank, The University of Tokyo, and Osaka University will work with Quantinuum to develop software tools and applications that integrate quantum and classical supercomputers most effectively.
