This is unreal 😳 Microsoft just dropped VASA-1, the first AI-generated video that takes a single portrait photo and speech audio and produces a hyper-realistic talking face video. The crazy part? The precise lip-audio sync, life-like facial behavior, and naturalistic head movements are generated in real time! Seeing is no longer believing. AI generated videos might cause a huge disruption to the way users consume content on social media. If we can’t distinguish between what’s real and what’s AI, why would we want to follow successful individuals anymore? Before we know it, I might be sharing a video of myself in a Lamborghini in Monaco, but in reality, I could be sitting in my yellow chair working on my client projects at home. Well holy $h!t, SORA is really damn impressive! SORA, the new text-to-video model from OpenAI, truly demonstrates the cutting edge and speed of GenAI development. The video below from MKBHD is a great rollup and summation of the tech and demos of the model. Greater though, are the clear impacts this kind of technology will have on various media industries. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see all the future implications, not just of the technology, but the speed of the progress. Commercial industries are much more flexible than government, and we are already struggling to keep up with what exists today. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, this is what exponential performance curves look like in real life. Crap, crap, crap….then one sudden day…magic.
