MP for Richmond and Northallerton. Conservatives leader. Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

To the country, I would like to say, first and foremost, I am sorry. I have given this job my all. But you have sent a clear signal that the government of the United Kingdom must change and yours is the only judgement that matters. I have heard your anger, your disappointment; and I take responsibility for this loss. To all the Conservative candidates and campaigners who worked tirelessly but without success, I am sorry that we could not deliver what your efforts deserved. It pains me to think how many good colleagues who contributed so much to their communities and our country, will now no longer sit in the House of Commons. I thank them for their hard work, their service. When I first stood here as your Prime Minister, I told you the most important task I had was to return stability to our economy. Inflation is back to target, mortgage rates are falling, and growth has returned. We have enhanced our standing in the world, rebuilding relations with allies, leading global efforts to support Ukraine and becoming the home of the new generation of transformative technologies. And our United Kingdom is stronger too: with the Windsor Framework, devolution restored in Northern Ireland, and our Union strengthened. I’m proud of those achievements. I believe this country is safer, stronger, and more secure than it was 20 months ago. And it is more prosperous, fairer, and resilient than it was in 2010. Whilst he has been my political opponent, Sir Keir Starmer will shortly become our Prime Minister. In this job, his successes will be all our successes, and I wish him and his family well. Whatever our disagreements in this campaign, he is a decent, public-spirited man, whom I respect. He and his family deserve the very best of our understanding, as they make the huge transition to their new lives behind this door and he grapples with this most demanding of jobs in an increasingly unstable world. I would like to thank my colleagues, my Cabinet, the Civil Service, but most of all I want to thank my wife Akshata and our beautiful daughters. I can never thank you enough for the sacrifices you have made so that I might serve our country. One of the most remarkable things about Britain is just how unremarkable it is that two generations after my grandparents came here with so little, I could become Prime Minister and that I could watch my two young daughters light Diwali candles on the steps of Downing Street. We must hold true to that idea of who we are, that vision of kindness, decency, and tolerance that has always been the British way. This is a difficult day, at the end of a number of difficult days.  But I leave this job honoured to have been your Prime Minister. This is the best country in the world and that is thanks entirely to you, the British people, the true source of all our achievements, our strengths, and our greatness.

Good man! True leader, humble and complementary in defeat, led with his heart and departs with honour. Why other leaders in western societies, including my own, can't show this kind of leadership, particularly in defeat is worrisome and only shows their self centered ambition and lust for power at any cost including their own country's well being. Grace in leadership is sadly missing in Canada and I only wish we could produce a leader with Mr. Sunak's qualities. In light of recent events our neighbour's in the U.S. could use a bit of this kind of leadership.

Well nothing lasts forever. External events buffeted the British Isles making the PM's job much more difficult than would normally be expected during Peace time. You took on the mantle but did not fail. Perhaps you were ill advised on several matters, who knows, but you always carried a dignified presence during your premiership. Your departure speech was gracious and humble. People respect you for your admirable qualities. Long may you serve the residents of Richmond, Yorkshire.

Rishi Sunak I bet a lot of foreigners were disappointed by your service. You symbolized the hopes of many foreigners, embodying the immigrant success story. However, you became their worst nightmare by installing anti-foreigner policies, slamming the door of opportunity on many others who wanted their families to make it like yours. More like the crab analogy where crabs pull each other back into the pot, that's what your story has become. Many hopeful foreigners were unhappy with you. Well, thanks for trying (in the British sense, of course)

He could not overturn/recover from the mistakes of his 4 predecessors. I'm not sure anyone within the party could have.

Hello Mr Rishi Sunak, you had achieved so much as a prime minister in such a short period of time. Most of the issues you inherited when you became prime minister were due to pandemic, followed by war between Russia and Ukraine and war between Israel and Palestine where you as a prime minister assisted relevant countries which affected UK economy and energy price increase which you should not have been blamed for. You still managed and achieved to bring the country back to good financial position including national insurance reduction and aiming to reduce NHS waiting list. It was good to have you as our prime minister and wish you all the best and hope you will be a strong opposition leader and be prime minister again in future.

Your exit message is beautiful and gracious, reflecting the highest standards of integrity and statesmanship! As you said, Britain’s strength lies in its diversity, resilience and the shared vision of kindness and tolerance. Your story as a grandson of an immigrant rising to Prime Minister is inspiring to many young minds of the future. Wishing you and your family all the best for your future endeavors!

Well, It’s always easier for anyone to criticise what has passed but it is also easier to give commendations. You and your team deserve all the praise for the things that were done to be right during a point in time when the information and data given, pointed to that calculated outcome. Data was crunched and calculated and eventually executed to a positive outcome. For the things which now in hindsight are not so right, lest we forget, we and others can learn from these trials. I would say the great and most valuable gift from this era are the lessons learnt. Now go have that holiday that is well deserved.
