AI has fast become a hot topic for boards and board members must seek familiarity with the associated opportunities and risks. Much like it did for cyber security, the Australian Institute of Company Directors has introduced guidance for director's on #governance of #AI, and it is both timely and extremely useful. The AICD frames its guidance using eight elements: 👥 Roles & Responsibilities 🏛️ Governance Structures 🧠 People, Skills & Culture 📜 Principles, Policies & Strategy 🔄 Practices, Processes & Controls 🖥️ Supporting Infrastructure 🤝 Stakeholder Engagement & Impact Assessment 📊 Monitoring, Reporting & Evaluation Most interesting to me was the reference to existing laws related to privacy, IP and data use, consumer protection, cyber security, anti-discrimination, duty of care/diligence, and work health and safety. It also flags that these laws are up for reform to apply more directly to AI use.
