Hello #connections, Attended an enlightening webinar on "The New Rules on Non-compete Agreements: What HR Professionals Need to Know." Key takeaways: - The Federal Trade Commission issued a final rule to ban non-competes nationwide, promoting competition and protecting workers' freedom to change jobs. - All non-compete agreements will become invalid, applicable to employees and independent contractors. - Prohibits forfeiture-for-compensation, clawbacks, and some garden-leave arrangements. - Non-disclosure and non-solicit provisions may violate the rule if they impede workers from seeking other work. The rule prohibits: - Employers from creating new non-compete clauses for workers. - Employers cannot suggest that a worker is bound by a non-compete clause.
