On Thursday I spoke to one of my clients to get an update on the vacancies he registered with AE Recruitment…. . . . . . His response = “Hayley, it’s summer! It’s slow to get a decision out of anyone right now” – He was referring to his clients that employ his architectural company for work Just because you’re not hearing back on job applications doesn’t mean to say that you’re not suitable. This particular client I’m referring to has 3 large projects in the pipeline which will mean taking on 20+ staff Just like you have to wait for a response on your job application, so do recruiters and so do the architectural practices. Everything has a knock-on effect, so remember that when you don’t get any news. Character counts - we’re limited in InMails and connection messages. It’s very difficult to include an entire job description in one message 2.) You fit more than 2 positions I’m supporting. A simple adjustment to your resume that will make you stand out is…. Adding project information to each role. I see endless resumes every week that lack project information. If you are a construction professional, this is a big no no. Whether it’s the employer reviewing your resume or a recruiter, you have about 20-30 seconds to stand out. In the building industry it's almost always a prerequisite to have proven experience in the industry the employer works in. So ask yourself, why are you not documenting the most crucial part?
