Location, location, location. For those who have never been there this is Tortilla Flat, AZ. Population: 6, maybe 9. Located just past Canyon Lake on State Route 88 (Apache Trail). Last town before the road washes out 9 miles later, on the way to Roosevelt Lake. Based on location it should be a ghost town, but out in the middle of nowhere, there it stands. When we arrived mid-morning there were maybe 4 cars parked there. By 11:15 almost every parking spot was taken. This was mid-week in 100 degree temps. The nearby campground is only open half the year, and the boat rides on Canyon Lake go all-year round. The restaurant is a frequent stop for bikers, usually wearing leather and riding Harley’s. Certainly, location is important, but so is creating a brand, and for some reason, this little piece of dirt has attracted a fairly significant A-list crowd. As an investor, I want as many factors going in my direction as possible including location. As a tourist however, these out of the way spots with a museum, store, restaurant, and mercantile shop are fascinating. What’s one of your favorite out of the way spots that’s worth a visit?
"Tortilla?" Who would have thought Ron Moore. What a vision!

1moThis is one reason why I will not write off investing in more rural areas. I understand that it flies in the face of what we are supposed to do. But there are benefits and a lot less competition. Ron Moore
