2024 may not be a typical election year, but many saw this coming. Political polarization has intensified within our two-party paradigm, and American voters are increasingly concerned that this system might eventually break, threatening our democracy. And they might be right. Election reform groups are working diligently to change the mechanisms governing our voting system, aiming to alleviate the toxicity that having only two options has created. Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) offers a solution, allowing more people to vote for more candidates without the fear of the "spoiler" effect narrative often propagated by corporate media. But, will Americans be ready for the outcomes of Ranked Choice Voting and open primaries? Will a strong coalition of independent political parties emerge to disrupt the duopoly, or will the two-party system cling to power as long as it can? For those tired of the status quo, it's time to talk, plan, and act. We must support voting reform efforts and create a home for political independents, combining our political will to ignite positive change for the working class and challenge the corporate class’s ability to purchase the political class! #ElectionReform #RankedChoiceVoting #OpenPrimaries #PoliticalChange #Democracy #IndependentVoters #ThirdParty #Vote2024 #PoliticalReform #EndTwoPartySystem #VoterEmpowerment #FutureOfElections #RCV

2024 Elections POLLING PREVIEW ARW Strategies and Crossroads Public Affairs, surveyed 500 GOP likely voters and it had a margin of error of 4.8 percent. Here are some interesting trends that we can be shared 👉 There are more than enough undecided voters to impact the outcome of the governor’s race. 👉 Donald Trump, Eric Holcomb, and Todd Rokita’s approval ratings are all north of 50 percent; Trump had the highest, and Rokita had the lowest. 👉 A significant minority of Republicans say they will vote for someone other than Donald Trump for President. 👉 Immigration and inflation are the two most important issues facing Republican voters. 👉 A solid majority supports leaving Indiana’s ballot access laws as is. And an even bigger majority support the legalization of marijuana for either recreational or medical purposes. Lesser-of-two-evils voting got us here. Lesser-of-two-evils voting will not fix ::all this::. Yet fear of a second Trump presidency has people pledging their votes to President Biden more than a year before the election. So he doesn't have to *earn* their votes. This exacerbates and perpetuates unaccountability. If you're not working to build alternatives to the Democratic-Republican duopoly, and you can't bring yourself to withhold your vote from them, you can at least keep your voting preference a secret before Election Day. Keep 'em guessing. #democracy #accountability

Completely agree, addressing the economy is integral to working towards improving our country and improving the quality of life for everyday working class people and it has been made abundantly clear: Bidenomics does not work and is destroying our country and the Latino community knows it https://lnkd.in/gbm8wiS8 Its time for us to come together to fight for effective free-market policies that will help our communities and help us in achieving the American Dream.
I'm in California for the 2nd GOP debate, and Univision asked me, 'What should a candidate discuss to truly stand out?' My answer: the economy. It's a top concern for everyone. Also, Republicans voting in the GOP primaries tend to be more conservative than those voting in the general election. It's crucial for candidates to address this audience. #Wednesday #Miercoles #news #Noticias #politics #California #losangeles #Washington

Did you think fair maps were on the horizon for North Carolina ahead of the 2024 election? Think again! The state's gerrymandered electoral maps will not be rectified before the election because for them it "only" impacts African American voters in the most pivotal election of our lifetimes. 🤬. The impact of democracy's setbacks in North Carolina reverberates across the nation, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in safeguarding our voting rights. It's essential to note that North Carolina, a swing state, has seen significant shifts over the years, highlighting the need for fair representation. It's crucial to stay informed about the changes that can affect our fundamental rights. Kudos to Democracy Docket for their dedication to keeping us informed and engaged on critical issues like these. Stay informed and stay vigilant! Link to the article: https://lnkd.in/gDN672it

As the summer heat sets in, it’s crucial to address the concerning trend of voter apathy, particularly among the middle and upper-middle class. I’ve often observed passionate debates about governance and policies at places like barber shops, yet come Election Day, the enthusiasm seems to wane. In a democracy, voting is not just a right but a responsibility. It’s our opportunity to actively participate in shaping the future of our nation. The act of voting is our voice, our power to hold our elected representatives accountable and to influence the direction of our country’s progress. To those who find themselves swayed by the comfort of their homes on Election Day, I urge you to consider the privilege we hold in having the freedom to vote. Let’s not squander this opportunity. Let’s step out of our comfort zones and make our voices heard at the ballot box. Remember, democracy thrives when every voice is counted. Let’s ensure our democracy remains vibrant and inclusive by exercising our right to vote. Together, let’s build a brighter future for all. #VotingMatters #Democracy #CivicDuty

Generally speaking, I'd never view primaries as an "important" race, especially within Illinois and Chicago. However, this race was different. Cook County State's Attorney (the county in which Chicago and its surrounding suburbs are) Kim Foxx decided not to run for re-election. This led to 2 potential SAs taking her spot: Public Policy Professor Clayton Haris III and Retired Justice Eileen O'Neill Burke. In the most general, objective analysis possible, Harris is favored towards more left-leaning and more progressive constituents while Burke is more favored to win the skeptical progressives, moderates, and republicans. The race started on March 19th and it is still going on now. As of 3/25/2024 at approximately 5:00 PM, Burke has an extremely narrow lead of 50.16% at Harris' 49.84%, which is roughly 1640 votes apart. The cliche mantra of "every vote counts" is, although repetitive, extremely important for elections like these. My prediction is already set in stone for Eileen O'Neill Burke to win the election, but how close she got sets the question of how a previous politician influences elections. #IllinoisElections #ChicagoPolitics #CookCountySA #KimFoxx #ClaytonHarisIII #EileenONeillBurke #PrimaryElection #ProgressivePolitics #ModerateVote #RepublicanVote #EveryVoteCounts #PoliticalAnalysis #ElectionUpdate #March2024Election #SkepticalProgressives
