My team works fully remote from around the world. We’ve never shared an office. Ever. Here's why that's awesome: → No hours-long daily commutes for anyone → We have more time with our families → I spend $0 on office space → I work with global talent Some cool facts about my remote team: → One writer, based in California, works at the beach AND the mountains → My designer in Poland regularly travels to Spain with family → Another works from Asia on a flexible schedule And the secret sauce that makes this work? 1. Clear expectations and deadlines from the get-go. 2. Mutual trust as the cornerstone of our culture 3. Semi-regular check-in calls to sync up Because remote work is not just about freedom— I truly believe this kind of team is the most productive. Why? No rushing to beat the traffic, no constant distractions in the office… ...just focus on the work at hand. Makes sense, doesn’t it?

Work From Home cannot work!! That’s what the world thought before the pandemic. Yesterday I read a post by someone about how managers are asking teams to come back to the office after promising remote work. Because apparently it’s not productive. The thing is physical presence no longer defines productivity. The true measure of success lies in the strength of our connections. 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲. #remoteworking has it's peaks; it allows employees freedom as the pressures of external factors are generally minimised. At the same time, the #flexibility and #freedom may create a never-ending work day. How companies support employees to manage their work and make sure that employees aren't guilted into working in a non-ending cycle is an important part of creating true freedom for employees.

We have lost our minds... 😬 Just 4 short years ago, 99% of us were working in an office. 👻 None of us dreamed of remote work 😮 We did not have the systems or management chops to build remote culture Today... We argue in forums around the semantics of remote work and name and shame employers for "deceiving" the workforce. "it's not remote if you need the employee to be located in a certain state" "it's not remote if I ever have to step foot into an office" "companies that don't allow remote from anywhere are stupid" "Thought Leaders", in an attempt to sell their career services, tell you companies are trying to "trick" employees back into the office because "capitalism bad" Sure some companies suck... but the world has jumped light years ahead and with everything there is a massive grey area. I can say from experience that often the answer is much simpler like... "we are not setup for taxes in that state" Or 'We would like our head of engineering to be able to see the engineering team every now and again." For the record I am 100000% for remote work, but if you want to put a "ding in the universe" there might be a required site visit or 2.

My entire team is fully remote. Here's why it works: → Deadlines are reached. → Clients are completely engaged. → Our product remains mikes ahead of the competition. While my team: → Works dedicatedly from their home desks. → Finds inspiration from their cozy corners. → Enjoys homebrewed coffee and fresh home lunches (no lines, no wait). How does this magic happen? → Expectations are crystal clear. → Goals are set and tracked meticulously. → We respect the 9 to 5, but from the comforts of home. There's been comments, of course… Some think home-based 9 to 5 might lead to "distractions" or that an office environment is "more productive". But here’s my two cents: If you believe that productivity is solely tied to an office building... ...remote might be a concept hard to grasp. But my team? We're hitting targets, with the same discipline of an office, minus the commute and the formal attire. We do outstanding work. Right from our homes. It’s that straightforward.

My agency is fully remote. It’s not about cutting costs or dodging office leases, either... It’s about: → Massively reduced employee stress → Access to a global talent pool → No sitting in traffic for hours → More time spent with family → Full location freedom Some people ask, "How do you work together so far apart?" And that's easy to answer— Slack, Zoom, and Loom make communication instant and incredibly effective. Throw in an occasional Zoom meeting, and we're as connected as we'd ever be in a physical space. And the results? I get a team that's not just talented, but happy. Focused, not tense. In return, they can live their lives however they want while doing great work. So trust me— Good work can happen anywhere. And in my experience, it’s most likely to happen when people are where they want to be. It's not just a win-win... It's how work is supposed to be.

The future of work is remote work, and the benefits of remote work are endless. One of the biggest advantages is the elimination of long commutes, which can save time, decrease stress, and increase productivity. Remote work also provides flexibility for employees to enjoy additional personal time, like a quick home workout or starting dinner earlier for their family. Employers, it's time to rethink work-life balance. Consider the "why" behind your decision to promote or not promote remote work. Trust your employees to deliver results, whether they're in the office or at home. If your employees are stuck in a cube all day in virtual meetings anyway, what are you gaining versus what they're gaining? Be intentional about the “why”, what your office days look like when they are in the office, and ultimately what you’re asking your employees to give up. #remotework #worklifebalance
