Spotted on the shelves: The Mitica Taralli Italian crackers from Forever Cheese Had to take a moment and appreciate the vibrant and eye-catching packaging design that channels the spirit of Italy right to our local aisles. The choice of colors is not just attention-grabbing but thoughtfully reflects the flavors within – from the earthy green for Cacio e Pepe to the zesty orange for Classico, and the natural brown for Fennel. Such visual cues are instrumental in guiding the consumer’s choice, making it both intuitive and delightful. I also like how the patterns and colors are different - which could be problematic - but it works well here. The strong diagonals helps a ton. But what's really interesting is the substrate used here. The material has a rustic, tactile feel, which not only adds to the authenticity of the product but also makes it stand out in a sea of glossy finishes. This choice of material reinforces the brand’s homage to traditional Italian baking, creating a sensory experience that starts at first glance and promises to continue upon tasting. In a market where standing out is key, Mitica Taralli shows that a thoughtful design can evoke a sense of place and quality, before you’ve even opened the bag. The Best in Package Design Designers and advertisers throughout the years have reminded us that Americans demand the highest quality in the products they buy. No surprise there. Nor is the fact that Element(AL) wine's eco-friendly aluminum bottle is adorned with fancy swashes, and photographed in front of gold, silver, and copper foil, allowing it to shine in fine glory. The bottle may be cheaper, but the idea of fancy wine remains. After all, many wine drinkers treat wine drinking like a fancy event. Will Element(AL)'s fancy bottle design help Americans drink Element(AL) wine with that same high-quality vibe, even though the bottle is much cheaper than fine glass? What do you think? Pinot Noir is Burgundy's most famous blue grape, which is produced not only in Burgundy but in Oregon, Northwest USA, where the soil is exceptionally rich in minerals. This wine has a creamy texture, and flavor full of piquant lushness. Further characteristic of this wine is creaminess, and smoothness, with a light and silky taste, which makes this wine one of the most elegant and graceful wines of its kind, not to mention its long-lasting, pleasant, fruity aftertaste. I wanted to capture these characteristics with the hand-drawn Spencerian letters and the associated flourishes. The gold effects emphasize the elegance of the wine, while the composition of the label underlines its lushness. Thick and sturdy: To prevent breakage and preserve the quality of the liquor. 3. Elegant shape: Often with a classic and refined design to enhance the aesthetic appeal. 4. Sealed tightly: To prevent leakage and preserve the aroma and flavor. 5. Labeled clearly: Displaying information such as brand, origin, and alcohol content.

What's that weird design thingy at the bottom of the bottle? That, my friends, is called a punt.  Okayyy …. Now why is there a punt in my bottle? It may have been more of a function more than anything else. Traditionally, wine bottles are made by glassblowers. The seam was pushed up to make sure the bottle could stand upright and there wasn't a sharp point of glass on the bottom.  Today, they are really non-functional, decorative aspects of the bottle. Or are they really now? I’ve heard some people say that a wine bottle with punt means better quality wine? In my opinion, there is no correlation between punts and wine quality. A bottle of wine made with a punt usually means that there is more material used in making it – and therefore, its relative weight is increased (compared to a bottle with similar volume without a punt). This may have given it a psychological, premium feel to the bottle. (Kinda like how we use the good wrapping paper with the red ribbon to boost its status) Some also say that the punts are there to strengthen the bottle, which makes it more hardy for storage of bubblies. It may or may not have been intentional, but who am I to argue when it allows me to enjoy a cool and sparkling treat in our weather?

When it comes to specialty coffee, the majority of consumers have only ever seen packaging that conveys sophisticated lines, muted colours, and blank spaces. The clean, light brown parchment of kraft paper, coupled with a textual logo or imprint across the front, has dominated specialty coffee design for the last decade. In a further bid to keep packaging design as sparse as possible, some coffee bags may have a QR code. This directs customers to the brands’ website where they can view origin details and roast profiles. On the other hand, maximalist design leans more towards the celebration of opulence and layered complexity.
