Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19th each year and marks the famous day in 1865 when the enslaved people of Texas learned they were finally free, a full two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was delivered by President Lincoln. Juneteenth symbolizes the hard fought end of slavery in the United States. The holiday is a time for modern Americans to reflect on the struggles of African Americans throughout our history and to celebrate their culture and progress. In recent years, Juneteenth has been recognized as a federal holiday, promoting freedom and America's ongoing journey towards equality. Century Park Associates prides itself on the cultivation of a diverse workforce, and in this regard, Juneteenth holds special significance. Celebrating Juneteenth acknowledges the diverse histories and contributions of all within our communities, reinforcing the company’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and enhancing our sense of unity and family. Recognizing Juneteenth educates and enriches us all, creating more knowledgable and empathetic associates, and a thriving, respectful, and cohesive workplace. #CenturyParkCares #Juneteenth #DEIB #CenturyParkAssociates

An educator and a community leader whose passion is to inspire the next generation of workforce, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners where all foster a positive empowerment with an aura of belonging. Personal acct.
#ServiceAboveAllElse #DEIBconference #CCRE I have always believed that people are good people and they can be the best human beings and not human creatures if they open both their hearts and minds to engage and understand each other. No one can wear the shoe of an another but we can be present in the moment to respect, value and cherish all who bring something to the table provided that we remain authentic to our own being. Throughout my life, I have aimed for milestones and goals so high that people would tell me to "reach for the stars". What learning from everyone around me has taught me is that I do not want to reach for the stars - I rather want to be part of the most awesome galaxy of stars - each one shining brightly and the brilliance of shine of belonging! With that, I have been part of Steering Committee of Carroll Citizens for Racial Equity (CCRE) for quite a few years. While we know that Carroll County in Maryland has a long way to go for a complete assurance of everyone knowing and believing that they belong, this grassroots organization is slowly and surely moving and inching towards the aura of galaxy of stars. Both as a citizen of Carroll County, a Steering Committee member of CCRE and a faculty of Carroll Community College, I am so pleased that we will offer our annual Conference this Friday, April 26th at Carroll Community College. It is an annual Conference that required months of planning and to see it coming to fruition yet again this year makes me believe in the "being" of the human being. Gov. Wes Moore and Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller administration stands on the principle of leaving no one behind. Truly how can we leave anyone behind when all must belong? I have witnessed that first hand that we all must pull everyone together as part of my work working and observing the fine colleagues at Maryland Governor's Office of Community Initiatives (GOCI). #CarrollCountyMD #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #Belonging #Justice #ConferenceForAll

Congratulations Keva Scott, Ed.S., CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast, on your appointment to Chair of the Rooted Movement Resource Group (MRG) for African American and Black Club Executives, Leaders, Staff, advocates, and allies across our 5,200 Clubs! Boys & Girls Clubs of America launches Movement Resource Group. Inclusive (anyone can join) Movement Resource Groups (MRGs) create a strategy for inclusion that organically creates belonging – security, well-being, safety, and identity confidence. MRGs are cultural groups within the Movement where Club leaders and staff who share similar human experiences, identities, interests, and affinities meet as chapter members, unlock potential, and emerge stronger through creative ways to better serve themselves, Clubs, and youth – all at the same time! MRGs focus their annual programming around multiple initiatives they identify as crucial to their cultural identity, talent development, talent advancement, and success as Movement mission-driven professionals. When MRG leaders model the way by showing up as their best selves and exhibiting change agent behaviors in a Speak Up! Culture, they communicate and encourage Club leaders and staff to do the same, and the results are amazing. They will regularly assess the culture; and operationalize sustainable diversity practices, equitable processes, and inclusion strategies. MRGs are harbingers of great cultures. #rootedmrg #mrg #movementresourcegroups #bgca #hlife

Deputy Portfolio Director at the Office of Energy Research and Development (Canada Free Agent) - Leading technical teams in the Government of Canada.
Whether you are a public servant or not, this is a great month to celebrate, learn, and be an ally. What allyship looks like: -apologizing for not using someone's pronouns, and commiting to do better next time -sharing resources and events un support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community -speaking up to correct homophobic and transphobic rhetoric, not matter who it comes from -creating safe spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ -take initiative to learn -unlearn unconscious biases Other ideas? Share below!
Happy Public Service Pride Week! This is a time to celebrate the diversity and hard-fought victories of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities within the public service. It’s also an opportunity to recognize public servants with intersecting experiences, including members of the Indigenous, Black, and racialized communities, as well as people with disabilities. Over the past five years, Public Service Pride Week has grown into a symbol of unity, inclusion, and progress. It is more than just a celebration; it’s a testament to our unity in serving all Canadians. It’s a time when we proudly showcase the diverse tapestry of individuals who form the backbone of our nation’s public service. Each one of us, as public servants, plays an important role in creating a more inclusive workplace. We must continue to champion diversity, challenge biases, and foster an environment where everyone feels safe and empowered to be their authentic selves. – Clerk Hannaford and Deputy Clerk Drouin
