The design-build team of E.S. Wagner Company and Holt Consulting Company, LLC was announced as the apparent best value proposer for SCDOT Design-Build Package 20 based on highest weighted criteria score. Package 20 consists of the replacement of seven bridges in Chesterfield, Fairfield, Lancaster, and York Counties. In combination with Package 15, which is already underway, E.S. Wagner and Holt will work together to replace a total of 11 bridges in 3 years! SCDOT maintains over 8,400 bridges across the state. Currently, less than 10% of the South Carolina’s Bridges are in poor condition. Over the next 10 years, SCDOT is focused on eliminating structurally deficient bridges on its National Highway System and reducing the number of load restricted bridges on the state’s secondary system.  Design-Build Bridge Packages are a key part of these efforts. #designbuild #bridge #civilengineering #construction

The Operations Manager at Cheyenne Construction had revealed a surprise road elevation of up to four inches after utility manholes were already in place. Cheyenne Construction's solution? A segment of S.D. Highway 248 in Lyman County will be temporarily closed on Thursday, May 16, 2024, and Friday, May 17, 2024, to install a new pipe culvert. The pipe culvert is located on Highway 248 approximately one and one-half miles west of the S.D Highway 47 junction at Reliance. The closure will be placed from the Highway 47 junction west to the town of Lyman. During this two-day closure, the public is asked to use a detour route on Interstate 90 from exit 248 to exit 241. Local traffic will be allowed access on this segment during the closure. However, a diversion around the pipe repair will not be installed. Local traffic will not be able to pass through the closure point where the new pipe culvert is being installed.
