With this month being National Traffic Awareness Month, we must start the discussion of the quality of our roads. In the Federal Highway Administration National Roadway Safety Strategy report, “Safer highways, roads, and streets can encourage safer behaviors among drivers and other road users.” By monitoring our roads and ensuring that they stay in good quality throughout time with the use of pavement preservation, we are working towards a safer tomorrow. #PavementPreservation #RMT

How can you help keep road workers safe? We help by creating the signs, barricades, and setting up SQ2 for short term flagging safety! Among other safety devices because we take safety SERIOUSLY! #highwayspecialties #highway #helixfamilycompany #construction #traffic #roadsafety #trafficsolutions

I recently got a fascinating traffic safety tip from a friend at the Department of Sanitation New York (DSNY). He suggested that placing random objects in traffic can be more effective in slowing vehicles down than traditional cones or flares. Picture a random armchair in a lane—drivers tend to slow down to make sense of it, unlike with familiar traffic cones. This unpredictability significantly enhances safety for those working in traffic. While it might not be standard procedure, I've tried it, and it's undeniably effective. I'm eager to hear your thoughts, especially from the Colonel Boyd, Gordon Graham, #OODA, #VUCA, #RPDM (recognition-primed decision-making), and #Cynefin enthusiasts out there. Have any of you encountered similar tactics? How do you approach road safety for those working in challenging conditions? How can you use similar confusion for good? Let's start a conversation! Share your insights in the comments below. Your experiences are invaluable. #TrafficSafety #RoadSafety #InnovationInSafety #Police #Fire #EMS #construction
