📢📢 Important updates about the NJ Turnpike's Newark Bay Bridge/Hudson County Extension Program and the South Jersey Capacity Enhancement programs for the Parkway and the Turnpike. These multi-billion-dollar initiatives are set to bring significant improvements to the transportation network in New Jersey. The Newark Bay Bridge/Hudson County Extension Program focuses on replacing the aging Newark Bay Bridge, which connects Newark and Jersey City. The current bridge requires extensive repairs and upgrades to meet modern transportation needs. The program aims to construct a new bridge with wider lanes, additional shoulders, and enhanced structural integrity to accommodate the growing traffic demands and ensure long-term durability. In addition to the Newark Bay Bridge project, the South Jersey Capacity Enhancement programs for the Garden State Parkway and the NJ Turnpike aim to increase capacity and improve efficiency. These projects involve widening existing lanes, adding new lanes, and enhancing interchanges and toll plazas. The goal is to alleviate congestion, reduce travel times, and enhance safety for motorists.

The state of Virginia will spend a combined $496.9 million on a pair of highway projects that will rehabilitate bridges and improve a major interchange ramp as part of the state’s broader effort to improve Interstate 64. - Expanding FDOT Pavement Evaluations Statewide! - We are ramping up our Florida Department of Transportation Pavement Evaluations, encompassing over 300 pavement core locations statewide. Notably, this effort features an extensive analysis of SR 776 in Sarasota County. Pavement Evaluations play a pivotal role in enhancing our infrastructure knowledge. By meticulously analyzing the alignment of travel lanes and side streets, we gain a comprehensive understanding of the existing conditions. This strategic approach empowers the FDOT to prioritize projects effectively and allocate resources where they are needed the most. The significance of Pavement Evaluations cannot be understated. It is through such meticulous assessments that we can pave the way to safer, more efficient travel experiences for all. Last week, County leadership and engaged residents met with Maryland Department of Transportation to discuss the department's six-year Draft FY2024-2029 Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP). The CTP includes funding to maintain existing transportation facilities, expand transit opportunities, invest in Maryland's economy, and more. Programs for Talbot County include: ✅ $1.5M study of MD 328 to assess safety and capacity improvements along US 50 and Black Dog Alley. ✅ $600,000 project for new lighting on US 50 at MD 322. ✅ Traffic management and signal improvements around the County, including a new signal at US 50 and Chapel Road, signal reconstruction at US 50 and MD 309, and upgrades from a flashing signal to full signal at MD 311 and Black Dog Alley. ✅ $48,000 for final design of 1.25 mile extension of St.Michaels Nature/Bike Trail ✅ $30,000 for study and preliminary design of a rail trail connecting parks in the Town of Oxford ✅ $25,000 in highway safety grants to law enforcement agengies and organizations including Easton Police Department and Talbot County Sheriff's Office ✅ $525,000 for Easton Airport to support Modernization project To view the entire draft, go to ctp.maryland.gov See press release here: https://lnkd.in/gSKKFPGF

Many bridges are aging out of their intended lifespan, and the problem will only get worse without additional resources. There are approximately 2,700 bridges in South Carolina that are 60 years old or older, and this number is expected to grow to 3,900 over the next decade. SCFOR applauds the #SCHouse Ways & Means Committee for prioritizing #infrastructure by including a $200 million allocation for bridges in their version of the FY24-25 budget. The #SCHouse will begin deliberating the budget on the floor next week, and we encourage them to support this important investment to aid in tackling repairs and replacements to our state's aging bridge network. #roads #bridges #safety #KeepSCMovingForward

"Ogden Avenue carries fewer than 20,000 vehicles per day, yet it still includes two to four vehicular lanes in each direction and additional one-way service drives in both directions. This wide car-centric design encourages speeding and poses a barrier to pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders. The project will implement multiple Proven Safety Countermeasures such as eliminating vehicular lanes; installing pedestrian refuge islands; building protected bike lanes along the entire corridor; and adding pedestrian countdown timers and leading pedestrian intervals at all signalized intersections. The project will also add bump-outs, ADA-accessible bus stops, raised crosswalks, and left-turn phasing." What an awesome project that will save lives, reduce emissions, and support neighborhood economic development. Bravo, CDOT.🚶♀️🚲🌎❤️
