Regardless of the outcomes of tomorrow’s General Election, we need bold leadership at the top of government to realise the full potential for digital public service transformation. So says our CEO and former Executive Director of the Government Digital Service, Stephen Foreshew-Cain, in his blog post ‘We need bold and better GovTech – not ‘Big IT’’. Helping public sector organisations realise the full potential of digital technologies, for them and their customers and clients
Money is tight, but post election I am sure expectation for change will be huge. During the intense period of an election campaign, numerous aspects are put to the test. The fiscal credibility of each party, the potential of their policies to improve lives and the abilities of the party leaders. All of these things are important, but once a new government starts working on its plans from July, there's one more thing that could make or break their success: the digital deliverability of each policy initiative. In 2019, Connecticut’s (CT) Governor Ned Lamont declared the state would “invest in an all-digital government,” providing residents with a “one-stop-shop” for all government services “online, not in line.” To help realize this vision, the digital team within the Bureau of Information Technology Solutions launched an effort to improve CT business owners’ interactions with state government by creating Business.CT.gov: a “one-stop shop” for all businesses within the state. As part of its development strategy for Business.CT.gov, the state invested in its in-house digital-delivery capabilities, thereby expanding its potential to deliver high-quality transformation initiatives in the future. Featuring the voices of Max Gigle and David Labbadia, the latest in the DSN Spotlight series highlights the State's approach to developing Business.CT.gov as the first step on the path toward an “all-digital government." Software Testing Services and Quality Assurance | Agile | Public Sector Transformation | De-Risk Large Scale Digital Programmes
I couldn't agree more with the contents of this article 👏 👏 👏 The upshot is that the Public Sector should drive an SME-first culture for innovation and building digital services! 😃 The reason being is that... 🤸♂️ SME's are more flexible, nimble and agile than ‘Big IT’ and can help the public sector adapt to rapid changes in the tech landscape. 🤸♀️ SMEs are more focused on Outcomes and are more open to working collaboratively to achieve joint goals. 🤸♂️ Today, many SMEs are at the forefront of delivering critical national infrastructure projects, which have proven to offer better value for money. #hettnorth24 #publicsectorinnovation #agiletransformation #outcomes
