Investing in things like PR, TV and other brand building efforts. Yes, I’ve seen the waste that happens when Google or Bing Ads are not optimized. Brands need to rethink how they spend paid media dollars in search as well as other channels. 🥋 However, I’ve seen marketing “gurus” use this as a case to prove that brands need to move away from Search in general with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) being collateral damage. 😤 This is because SEO usually gets lumped into Performance Marketing and some people still don’t understand the difference between SEO and SEM. Or how SEO can be used to improve the performance of paid search ads and capture demand from PR, TV and OOH. In fact things that help build a brand like PR really helps your SEO performance. Brand mentions and links are two ways PR helps SEO. 💡 SEO also helps build your brand because when you show up on search engines for non-branded words like “Home Rentals” this introduces you to people who might not have heard of your brand.
