Reminder! You can’t just copy and paste someone else’s liability waiver and expect it to work for your business. In equine law, we equine lawyers regularly caution people that the legal protections immunizing equine activity sponsors from some lawsuits vary from state to state, and that therefore, you cannot necessarily copy and paste a liability waiver written for one state for use in another state. A case from Michigan is recent confirmation of this caution. Read my newest blog with the link below. #carbonvalley #horselovers

Great insights from Wendy Merrill. How we treat our colleagues matters greatly. So often, work can feel/be very transactional. Employees are being paid to provide a service for their expertise. While true, it is vital for leaders to make their colleagues feel seen, respected, cared about and valued. This is particularly important if we hope to retain and advance talented professionals.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a little obsessed with horses. OK, I'm a lot obsessed with horses. As much as I enjoy having a little horsey fun with my brand, the equine references I make are actually quite relevant to the legal space. Performance horses (like my retired racehorse Allora) are prey animals that are highly sensitive, intelligent, and powerful creatures whose wellbeing relies upon whether or not they can trust their environment, herd mates, and humans. If they are misunderstood or feel unsafe, they will not perform as expected and might even be dangerous to their rider or trainer. Not unlike #lawyers. Especially associates. I've seen horses maltreated, misunderstood, and even euthanized because their owners didn't take the time to observe, listen, and attend to them. If your #lawfirm is struggling with #lawyer performance or retention, it might be helpful to think about your legal talent as Thoroughbreds. 🐎 If they feel safe, respected, and invested in, they will run their hearts out for you. On the other hand, if their needs are not being met or they feel unsupported or not able to trust their environment, they will underperform, shut down, or leave. #law #management #success

In Texarkana, an unusual law illuminates a vital safety measure: riding your horse at night is only permissible if it sports taillights. At the same time, it may seem like a quirky regulation, but the underlying principle of promoting safety is crystal clear. As advocates for safe practices, we champion initiatives that put the well-being of both riders and their loyal horses first. Embracing unconventional laws that are grounded in safety is pivotal to ensuring responsible equine activities. Remember, even your horse needs taillights for a safe journey ahead! 🐎 #rameychandler #lawfirm #law #attorney #legal #lawyers #insurance #insurancedefense #justice #attorneyatlaw #attorneys #RCQ
