Nostalgia marketing is a trend worth paying attention to. Barbie, Taco Bell, McDonalds and Pop Tarts are just a few brands that are reimagining classic childhood memories to capture audience attention today. Marketers are looking backwards to create forward-thinking emotional connections and new pathways to brand relevance. And rather than reimagine commercials from our youth, there are the brands that simply dust off their old commercials to re-air them on TV today. Tootsie Roll's 1969 commercial, complete with crackling audio and grainy animation, is still on the air today. It's a great ad that didn't need an update, and creates a memorable, stark contrast to the high definition graphics and surround sound in today's ads.
