Charlotte Launch program at Charlotte's Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Apr: NC IDEA micro grant recipients. Selects for AWS Startup Loft Accelerator Latino founder cohort. May-June: Marcel Folaron quits his job and hits Leantime (Techstars '23) full time. We get to be part of the closing bell on the Nasdaq in NYC. Launch new AI features, build on strategy and add programs. Ended June at just over 13,000 installations. Aug: Accepted into the RIoT - Internet of Things accelerator. Digging into customer discovery and working with Kingsmen Software on more AI. Sept-Nov: Selected as one of the top 10 tech startups in NC to watch by North Carolina Technology Association (NC TECH). Pitched on main stage at ConvergeSouth Conference. Participated in RIoT’s all things open event. Pitched at PitchBreakfast. Presented at Kingsmen Software AI conference. NC IDEA seed semi finalists. Nov-Dec: Became a Techstars portfolio company. Learning, building, testing, iterating. Jan 2024: this picture here. We’ve been up since 0330, traveling. It’s three days into January and we just packed up bags and bags and are now in NYC to keep digging into the NYC ecosystem. We just surpassed 25,000 installations and have some big updates coming out in the next two weeks while we do more discovery and more building. Cannot wait to see what adventures 2024 is bringing!

🚨 MVP Lab is live! After 39 years on Earth, it’s time to launch a YouTube channel. Over the years I’ve learned quite a few things the hard way. And tried to solve a lot of difficult problems. And wrote a lot of code. And met a lot of smart people. And sat across the room from people who looked at me like I was an alien. And sat across the room from people who looked at me like I was a genius. And sometimes I realized that I was in the wrong room. And politely excused myself and went back to the reception to ask about the room again. The point is, I’m starting a YouTube channel. My goal is to make the YouTube channel that I wish had existed when I first started my Startup journey. 2024 represents a new world of possibilities and warp-speed innovation for startup founders. I hope this channel can play a small part in helping those founders start their journeys. As I start a new one of my own. The art of iterating: Why more startups should embrace being in 'beta'. Too many startups wait for their product to be perfect before they launch it into the world. They toil away in obscurity, tweaking and perfecting, often only to find that the market has moved on by the time they're ready to debut. This is a cycle I've witnessed firsthand and one I believe we can break by embracing constant iteration or, as I like to call it, permanent beta mode. Being in 'beta' doesn't mean delivering a subpar product; rather, it signifies a commitment to continuous improvement based on real-world feedback. It's about launching your MVP (Minimum Viable Product) then refining as you go, learning from your users directly what works and what doesn't. This approach not only accelerates innovation but also builds a community of early adopters who feel invested in your product's evolution.

Early-stage startups aren’t just built by founders. Behind every CEO, there are teams working in the trenches across operations, sales and marketing to accelerate new technology. I jumped into the startup world four years ago. At first, I wasn’t sure my background in journalism would fit. I thought startups were only for “businesspeople” and boy, was I glad to be wrong! Now I'm the content marketing specialist and technical writer at Primordial Labs, and I get to collaborate with engineers, leadership, sales - you name it! It’s truly exciting to work at an early-stage startup. There’s something special about how a small group of people from all walks of life can combine their skills, roll up their sleeves, and build something awesome together. At SXSW, I’m set to speak on a proposed panel that offers an unfiltered look at life at a high-growth company, and charts a path to grow a career at startups. I’ll be joined by Rachel McKay (COO of Overwatch Imaging), Mitchell Plonski (CRO of Shift5), and Donna Person Taylor (CFO of Instant Teams) on this panel, so there will be lots of great stories to share.
