Ending the week with Exciting News from the Council of the European Union! The EU has consistently led the way in promoting corporate accountability and sustainability. In line with this commitment, the EU Parliament passed the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) in April of this year. This directive compels companies to proactively uphold human rights and address environmental concerns throughout their operations and supply chains. The CSDDD introduces some key changes to the compliance threshold. Now, companies with a net worldwide turnover of €450 million must comply, which narrows the scope to approximately 5,300 companies. The directive emphasizes transparency and sustainability, impacting the broader business landscape. Mandating companies to review their supply chains for environmental and labor malpractices aims to eliminate profits from human suffering and ecological exploitation. 🇪🇺 The European Parliament has adopted last week the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) - a significant development for companies operating in and with the EU. 🔍 What is the CSDDD? The CSDDD aims to ensure companies take responsibility for the environmental and human rights impacts throughout their supply chains. This includes not only a company's direct operations but also the actions of its subsidiaries and suppliers. What does this mean for your business? Even if your company isn't headquartered in the EU, the CSDDD could still impact you if you supply goods or services to the European market. You may need to: ☑️ Identify and assess sustainability risks in your supply chain. ☑️ Implement measures to address these risks. ☑️ Report publicly on your sustainability efforts. 🗓️ The CSDDD is expected to come into effect by phases, starting with reporting on 2026 for the largest companies. Companies should begin preparing now to ensure compliance. Stay tuned for further updates! We'll be sharing more information about the CSDDD and its implications in the coming weeks. #EU #Sustainability #CSDDD #SupplyChain #CorporateDueDiligence #HumanRights #Environment #ESG
