Why is Digital Display Losing to Traditional Roll-ups? It's quite peculiar that despite the presence of digital displays at booths, exhibitors often resort to using traditional roll-ups. What is the cost of your exhibit being incorrect? Banged up? Missing pieces? Every so often I get calls from exhibitors who either store their own exhibit or keep it in a random warehouse because they need their exhibit repaired. These same exhibitors often have issues with the proper components being sent to the show, because there is no prep and planning done beforehand. Of course, there is the cost of extra repairs, shipping things last minute, etc. But the real cost comes from not looking your best in front of your customers and potential customers. I can’t think of a company that shoot a Super Bowl commercial with their phone on a whim with no lighting, etc. It wouldn’t reflect well on their brand. Neither does sending an exhibit to a show with no preparation. The cost is way more than the amounts visible on a spreadsheet.

Industry Jargon of the Day! Inline Booth: A standard booth space with neighboring booths on either side. An exhibit that is arranged in a continuous line, sometimes referred to as a Linear Display. Island Booth: A freestanding trade show exhibit with aisles on all four sides, allowing access from multiple directions and offering high visibility. Peninsula Booth: trade show booth space which is open to aisles on three sides. The fourth side is next to another booth. A peninsula booth is also referred to as an End Cap booth. Coming out of covid, there have been a lot of new people working in the trade show industry mostly on the exhibitor side that could benefit from this. Side note: With most new exhibitor clients, I will often explain the differences in booth spaces with them about 3 times a week. The most common misconception I hear is when they say they have a 10 x 10 booth space. They will then think the exhibit needs to be 10 x 10, 10 ft wide x 10 ft high. I then will explain that the 10 x 10 refers to the actual floor space they are paying for on the show floor and that the exhibit needs to be 10 ft wide by 8 ft high to fit show regulations.
