I got a little nervous today when a pilot sat down next to me on my flight.
I was thinking maybe they were doing the self-checkout thing too and I was being enlisted as co-pilot.
Luckily, I was wrong but I had a great conversation with a Pilot making his way back to his home city.
We talked about life, careers, and family...and he asked me about the sales process for the event industry.
He was asking if it was akin to car sales where you had to "close" your prospect.
I was proud to say, that the event industry is not a business for "closing" sales but instead nurturing sales.
It's a relationship-based industry and trust is paramount.
Trust in the company I represent.
Trust in my skill set.
Trust in my integrity.
We don't close in the events...we build trust.
Anyway, I am in DC through Thursday, Attending BizBash Connect DC and the Fairfax Loudon Event Execs meeting on Thursday.
I have a few spots open to connect if you are in the area.
