Fundraising auctioneer & consultant for traditional, virtual, and hybrid galas. Offer practical advice for Gala chairpersons and committees planning nonprofit & school fundraisers.
Round House Theatre has its upcoming gala this weekend, and it just so happens that the GM's calendar had this as today's humor. Anything can happen between now and Saturday, but I'm hoping I'm still around for it.
So, this is engagement number 2 next week. I shall be talking about the challenges and success of working, or attempting to work to the Theatre Green book targets.
🌞This will be a mix of short talks and a Q&A session with myself and fellow pms, designers and backstage folk.

This (post ⬇️) shines a light on a really important aspect of the work of theatres…over 600 people came to Colwyn Bay today to watch the pantomime. The economic multiplier impacts (generated by theatre audiences, casts and technical teams) are huge.
According to a SOLT / UK Theatre report in October:
A recent study conducted on behalf of SOLT & UK Theatre suggests that the UK theatre sector generates £2.39bn GVA and supports 205,000 workers. This is made up of £1bn of direct turnover in the UK theatre sector, generating £1.3bn worth of turnover in the broader economy.

A full house at Theatr Colwyn today for Mother Goose, produced by Colwyn Bay’s very own Magic Light Productions.
A brilliant show full of local references and humour, incredible costumes and - of course - the exceptional surroundings of the oldest working Theatre in Wales.
Behind me there are more than 300 full seats, 300 pairs of feet coming to Colwyn Bay on a Saturday afternoon.
So many towns have lost these assets over the last few decades. Times have never been tougher but it’s so important to remember the unique value this theatre brings both to the economy of The Bay and its distinctive identity.
You can quite literally feel the magic of the place.

Having proofread a recent draft, "A Sense of Theatre" is a genuine masterpiece. Richard Pilbrow tells not only the story of the conception and birth of the National Theatre, but also delves deeply into the design team's struggle to explore and agree upon why the new spaces matter and what theatre at its essence is, finally coming to realize, “…that theatre doesn't begin and end with the rise and fall of the curtain.”
If you have even a passing interest in the planning, design, and construction of performance spaces, and some desire to better understand the enormity of the process of starting and completing a major capital project in the real world where art, technology, and politics collide, you’ll want - and will enjoy - this book.
Be Part Of A Sense of Theatre - Or Just Get The Book!
'A Sense of Theatre' is Richard Pilbrow's remarkable history and exploration of the National Theatre - building and company - with which he has been involved since it's inception in 1963. This book has been eight years - or, really, a lifetime - in the making, and is nearly ready for you all to enjoy.
Today we are delighted to have our Kickstarter up and running to let you support the book by just buying a copy in advance. Or for just a little more, you can be part of the book, with your name permanently inside on our supporter's page. Or for a bit more, you get your name and a short message inside, alongside the wonderful industry sponsors who are already supporting us.
Please do have a look. If you have questions, shout them out.

This is quite a story, told by quite a remarkable individual - perhaps the last one standing to have been part of the planning of this amazing building.

With the huge interest Godwin's Macbeth has generated. There is scope for other creatives to risk using unconventional venues for their productions.
While this is not a new thing, the popularity this show has garnered may bleed into the creative community of Liverpool, resulting in us seeing a lot more of this rough and ready flavour in our industry.
what are examples of theatre performed in 'unconventional settings' that you've seen and how was your experience with it?
The more we discuss these ideas, the more can be done in ways of making this style of theatre more accessible for the masses!
