Wearables such as smartwatches that are capable of monitoring functions can provide details of an individual’s heartbeat but cannot accurately and unobtrusively measure the electrical current of the heart, which can help diagnose an irregular heartbeat. Now, a study has shown for the first time that tiny devices, situated in a single ear, can effectively capture electrocardiogram (ECG) data in real time. Do you use wearables or connected devices to track your health? I've been doing the "quantified self" thing for a while. Watches, rings, patches, and other devices are getting smarter. I just bought a smart scale! Don't expect me to publish any numbers here though 😉. #Digitalhealth is a big deal. I wish my doctors were paying more attention to this trend. Pharma has caught on. Digital health technologies are starting to find their way into clinical trials and even as companions to commercialized products, where remote patient monitoring and digital biomarker data collection will begin to merge with diagnostics, sensors, and personalized medicine. And did you know, there's another class of products called Digital Therapeutics (DTx)? Many of these are available only under prescription, just like medicines.
