Don’t look down! That seems to be what most fashion brands do when it comes to production. They outsource. Their suppliers outsource to sub-suppliers. And those outsource yet again, further away. In the clothing industry, the maxime is usually to outsource whatever possible to wherever it’s cheapest and consequently, push responsibility further down the supply chain. But by taking control of their supply chain, brands have more to gain than a seat on the side of the “good guys.” They increase flexibility and innovation while reducing costs and complexity. How?
