Thanks American Medical Association . #priorauthorization reform is needed, so this is a small victory (but an improvement, nonetheless). I doubt patients will notice much difference, but it will lighten #physician administrative burden, eventually and perhaps decrease #physicianburnout These patches in the #EHR could occur much more rapidly, especially health systems using Epic and Cerner Corporation. #healthinsurance conglomerates could adapt more quickly. Unfortunately, the new rule is a slow phase in. Here is the excerpt… “Starting in 2026, affected payers will have to send prior authorization decisions within 72 hours for urgent requests and within a week for nonurgent requests. For some payers, CMS noted, that would represent a 50% improvement. The AMA strongly advocated faster time frames.”

Very important read... Private for Profit healthcare erodes and threatens the viability of our public healthcare. However, you do not always get the best care in private for profit healthcare. Private for Profit healthcare charges 3 or more times higher for procedures and outcomes for the patients can be questionable at times.
MUST READ "Each staff person hired by a private facility leaves one less staff person in a public one. It’s tit-for-tat. A vicious cycle results: As trust in public health care delivery erodes, officials become more likely to look to private clinics in a desperate attempt to address the crisis", say Andrew Longhurst and Dr Iris Gorfinkel. https://lnkd.in/gx2FCyym
