Earlier warnings mean earlier interventions. SDMA increases when there is as little as 25% loss of kidney function versus creatinine, which does not increase until up to 75% of kidney function is lost. #veterinarymedicine

For the love of God, sweet baby Jesus or common sense, PLEASE do not give this to your cat if they got newly diagnosed with diabetes! This drug should have NEVER been approved. Pretty much all uniform disapproval from the admins in the feline diabetes support group as well, that truly understand diabetes. New patients will not be able to assess things correctly bc of missing knowledge. I am glad to hear that some Vets are not on board with this. The risks outweigh the benefits hundredfold.Awful Drug! I already feel bad for any cat or owner or vet that thinks this is a good idea... smh!The side effects outweigh any benefits PLUS add more risk on top of already existing risks. How is this supposed to be an improvement??? Such a high risk for DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) and vets STILL don't measure ketones (ß-Hydroxybutyrate) in the blood! Which is the only accurate way to measure. Nitroprusside (piss) strips do not show BHB! Only Acetone & Acetoacetate! The other not dominant markers for DKA. No word on how this is actually transporting glucose into the cells. https://lnkd.in/gEZWcR6D More to it in the link below. #bexacat #bexagliflozin #felinediabetes #veterinarymedicine #veterinaria #veterinärmedizin

The rationale for seeking a non-pharmacological alternative for AF-related stroke continues to expand beyond a lone risk of major bleeding. This recent study published in #JACC comparing fall outcomes with #LAAC vs. DOACs highlights the importance of fall risks and tailoring therapy to optimize the benefit/risk profile of patients with AF. The study found that patients implanted with a #WATCHMAN device had significantly reduced severity of fall-related injuries, incidence of major trauma, hospital length of stay and risk of major bleeding post-fall, including intracranial bleeding. While observational, this study offers important insights into the impact of fall risk for patients with #atrialfibrillation, and I look forward to future data from ongoing randomized trials on the impact LAAC may have on patients with NVAF.
