Marginfi, a DeFi platform based on Solana, is facing a major setback. Their CEO, Edgar Pavlovsky, has resigned due to internal conflicts. This caused a whopping 25% drop in the platform's total value locked (TVL), which is now below $600 million. On top of that, some conflicts are brewing with SolBlaze. Solend, one of their competitors, is offering airdrops to Marginfi users. It's a tough time for Solana too, as the network is dealing with congestion issues, thanks to those pesky bot spams causing transaction failures.

Status-quo: TradFi trusts their technology providers to run their software and infrastructure. One door to the next possible: 1. Get TradFi technology providers together to span a credibly neutral Ethereum side-chain for TradFi. 2. TradFi can go beyond PoCs and scale. If only someone could do all the organizational, compliance, legal, and governance work around the technology… wait, I know a company that‘s crazy enough to solve this… ;-)

Less than a month after launch, Base now has a greater total-value-locked (TVL) than Solana. I guess that's a pretty clear indicator of product-market-fit. It makes me wonder who will be the first to launch an L2 that meets the requirements of tradfi...

There was time where the cumulative TVL of Solana DeFi would fit into a single one of these protocols. It's exciting to see strong foundational lego blocks being built on Solana DeFi. Each, as antifragile as the next. As recent as six months ago; many of the protocols you see on this list were in SINGLE DIGIT TVL figures. Many only see the numbers today; not the journey it took to get here. Pullbacks don't phase us at all these days.

Solana continues to innovate. Token Extensions provide a toolbox for token issuers, payment infrastructures, and DeFi/Web3 DApps. The ability to imbed metadata into tokens, check KYC/AML before transfers, encrypt details of transaction amounts, and the ability to revoke issued tokens are just a few examples. Solana's Achilles heel has always been its uptime. As long as these changes don't exacerbate that problem, these extensions should increase utility. BUIDL. https://lnkd.in/gfhVJU-Z
