Today, I had the privilege of attending the 2024 STEM Career and Internship Fair at UC Santa Cruz. Engaging with recruiters and delving into discussions about potential job opportunities was an enriching experience. One proactive step I took prior to the event was applying for relevant positions in advance. By doing so, I ensured that recruiters had access to my resume and pertinent information, facilitating seamless conversations and maximizing the impact of our interactions. 👨🏾🎓 January is Internship and Job Fair season! 👩🏾🎓 As many corporations and businesses seek out talent on college 🎓 campuses across the country, diversity and inclusion must become a priority when meeting and interviewing prospects. Even selecting which schools and locations to hold career fairs plays an integral role in the demographics of students that will attend. As we aspire to break down systemic barriers that systemic populations face when entering STEM/STEAM careers, the barrier of access must be addressed. Participating in internship/career fairs at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-Serving Institutions is a significant step in ensuring these vital positions are accessible to all. What steps can your business take to progress the call for more diversity in your field?
