It's a pretty cool start to the week when "Spring Fertility" are the first two words of The New York Times' Sunday Business cover story! Thank you to The New York Times for featuring Spring in such a thoughtful piece on #eggfreezing, and for highlighting how and why it's become an increasingly popular family-planning option for professionals looking to delay parenthood. "Across Spring's clinics nationwide, the number of egg freezing cycles undertaken last year jumped 37 percent from the year before... The prototypical patient also seems to be getting younger, doctors say, a change coinciding with a steady uptick in corporate benefit packages that cover fertility preservation. In 2015 just 5 percent of large employers covered egg freezing; in 2023, nearly one in five did." Shout out to our friends at Progyny, Inc., Carrot Fertility, WIN, and Stork Club Reproductive Care Benefits for your continued dedication to making comprehensive #fertilitybenefits more accessible! In 2023 only ~1 in 10 women have egg-freezing coverage 🤯 Fertility treatments in the US such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), egg freezing, and other related procedures can be expensive, ranging from $14K - $40K depending on the treatment and clinic. This means that a vast majority of women have to suffer through the financial stress of paying for treatments out of pocket which adds to the already significant emotional strain that comes with infertility. This reality highlights a pressing issue in the realm of reproductive healthcare and emphasizes the need for increased awareness, advocacy, and policy changes to improve access to fertility services. The most common reason women think about fertility preservation is because they anticipate having children at an age later than what the female body intended. Some women may delay childbearing due to life circumstances – they haven’t met the right partner or they don’t feel financially ready to start a family. Egg freezing offers women the opportunity to preserve their fertility while pursuing personal and professional goals. Here, Dr. Cary Dicken, reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist at RMA of New York - Long Island answers 8 common questions about egg freezing: https://lnkd.in/eMCqSbYR #FertilityPreservation #EggFreezing #FAQs #FamilyBuilding

Today marks the beginning of #nfaw23 where, for the next week, we will be raising awareness of #fertilityissues. The event provides a platform for open discussions, offering support and guidance to those facing difficulties in starting or expanding their families. It serves as a reminder of the importance of early education about fertility and empowers individuals to make informed choices about their reproductive health. National Fertility Awareness Week not only fosters understanding but also encourages compassion, reducing the stigma associated with fertility struggles and fostering a more inclusive and supportive society. Today we take time to focus on #fertilityfairness with a specific look at how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting those going through fertility treatment. Leading up to Fertility week, FNUK ran a cos-of-living survey to understand how the crisis has impacted fertility patients. The survey found that 95% of respondents have or are experiencing financial worries relating to fertility treatment; with 92% reporting these problems were exacerbated by the cost-of-living crisis For an issue defined by the World Health Organisation as a disease, and one that impacts all areas of life, it is vital that conversations around fertility treatment extend beyond the medical sphere. The number of women and couples using IVF continues to rise and for same-sex couples or single women, fertility treatment is often their only option to start a family. We know it can be difficult to manage moving towards starting your family during the current cost of living crisis and the NHS postcode lottery can only make matters worse. That’s why we are proud to offer payment plans, which helps make your dream of starting a family a reality. Today is the beginning of The Fertility Networks' annual National Fertility Awareness Week. This week is an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges and complexities surrounding fertility and reproductive health. During this week, ourselves and many other communities and organisations will come together to shed light on the emotional, medical, and societal aspects of fertility issues We’re starting the week off by addressing #fertilityfairness and the impact the cost-of-living crisis has had on people going through fertility treatment. Leading up to Fertility week, FNUK ran a cos-of-living survey to understand how the crisis has impacted fertility patients. The survey found that 49% reported being unable to move forward with their treatment due to a combination of the cost-of-living crisis, lack of NHS funding and high cost of private treatment. Depending on the area you live in, the amount of IVF funding available on the NHS varies considerably. At abc ivf we aim to provide affordable treatment options as well as payment plan, to make growing your family less stressful and more manageable. As our Medical Director and ObGyn Jennifer McLeland, MD MBA shares, proactive fertility care is important AND it has to be balanced. It's why at Frame we: -Assess the holistic situation to understand the patient's needs, goals and risk factors first, and then dig into next steps which may include fertility preservation and testing -Help patients balance the pro's and con's of different pathways and set expectations regarding success rates -Leverage evidence-based information and education and celebrate (and share!) the fantastic content coming from our clinical advisors and other physicians about these topics #fertility #infertility #eggfreezing
Appreciate the BBC for highlighting the delicate balance of the advantages and disadvantages of proactive fertility testing and procedures. It is essential that patients have the ability to have open communication with healthcare professionals so that they can make informed decisions that are tailored to their individual preferences and situations taking into consideration the multifaceted nature of reproductive health. "Being educated in your own body and what you are working with can only help in the long run," she says. "But while these services have important benefits and can offer peace of mind and a form of insurance for future fertility, it's crucial that they're provided with clear, balanced information without exploiting fears or insecurities."
The proactive fertility care industry is soaring. Is that a good thing?

Unified affiliate CCRM Fertility recently released results from their inaugural Black Fertility Matters survey* on the experiences of Black women and men related to fertility health. It revealed several racial and cultural barriers that impede access to quality fertility care and treatment for the Black community, preventing many from achieving their family planning goals. Most notably, more than half (57%) of respondents believe Black individuals are less likely to seek fertility treatment, and 26% experienced racial/cultural bias when seeking fertility treatment.
