As a rec2rec, I've noticed a growing trend where many companies prefer to hire only Japanese employees, fostering a more domestic culture. This approach contradicts the global diversity and inclusion guidelines and branding these companies promote. The consequences of such actions are significant and long-lasting. A lack of diversity in employees and culture can lead to: Stifled Innovation: Without a diverse group of employees, there's a shortage of new ideas and perspectives. Employee Dissatisfaction: Employees who feel their culture is not embraced or valued may leave. Disappointed Japanese Employees: Those who sought a diverse, international workplace may leave when they find the opposite. Decreased Talent Attraction: Both foreign and bilingual Japanese candidates will prefer more diverse and international environments. A diverse workforce creates a happier, more productive environment. The exchange of ideas and cultural insights it fosters drives business success to new heights. Japan's domestic recruitment market is already dominated by large local firms. International bilingual recruitment agencies should in my opinion leverage their unique position to compete in the growing bilingual market. It continues; companies see only cost savings rather than the candidate experience. They move recruitment overseas to save money; they use the tech hubs in India, Indonesia, and other countries to use technology to read resumes for words that match job descriptions. These companies just showed they are about something other than hiring the right future employee.
