Do you know some of the top Indian-origin CEOs leading global MNCs are from South India? Names like Satya Nadella (Microsoft), Sundar Pichai (Google /Alphabet Inc.), Shantanu Narayen (Adobe), and Raj Subramaniam (FedEx) are just a few examples. But how do South Indians secure top leadership positions in MNCs? In my opinion, it may happen due to the following reasons: 📍Education Excellence: South India has an impressive education system, with institutes like the IITs producing top tech talent. The focus on STEM fields primes them for global tech leadership roles. 📍English Fluency: Being proficient in English gives them a plus point when operating multinationals. 📍Work Ethic: South Indian culture emphasises hard work, dedication, and ambition—qualities that serve leaders well when climbing corporate ladders. 📍IT Hubs: Cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad are major IT/tech centres, providing more professional exposure and opportunities. 📍Global Mindset: With a history of international engagement, many South Indians have an innate global outlook, which is beneficial for multinational roles. The convergence of factors such as education, language, work ethic, and exposure seems to have benefited many South Indian professionals. As our world becomes more globalised, perhaps we'll see this trend extend beyond the tech sector to other industries led by leaders from all parts of India and the world. Who is your favourite leader from South India? #southindia #entrepreneurship
