Client: "We've been searching for this Software Engineer for 4-months" Me: Interesting- why could this be? Client: "We want them to come onsite everyday and we're located 1.5hrs outside of Berlin" "Oh and they need to have worked with JavaScript, Python, .net, C#, Java and be good at DevOps" "And speak German!" Me: Ok, have you considered this person may not exist? It's highly likely that if you've been searching for someone for a SE position for longer than 4 weeks there could be a problem with your requirements. With this client I initially advised best course of action is to pinpoint the tech they will work with on a daily basis and search for these people. If your office is located outside of a major city or hard to travel to consider searching for candidates to work on a remote basis or who could come to the office on a less frequent basis. Most of the time if your struggling to hire you have to look internally and see what could be going wrong, whether it be the processes, requirements, salary or work location.
