Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death globally. Sadly, most cases are diagnosed at stage IV, with less than a 10% chance of surviving five years post-diagnosis. However, when caught at stage I, the survival rate can be as high as 92%*. Despite these statistics, lung cancer is not consistently prioritized in National Cancer Control Programmes, and most countries (particularly in emerging geographies) lack population-based screening programs. Stay tuned as we prepare to engage with leading health bodies at the upcoming #WorldHealthAssembly to address this critical issue. #AZLungCancer #SavingLivesPlatform Ti Hwei How Lucy Dance Marq Marquez Christopher McPherson David LeDuc Daniel Widrig Shira Gerver Greg Rossi David Fredrickson *Source: Goldstraw P, Chansky K, Crowley J, et al. 2016. Lung cancer is a major health burden globally, especially in Asia, with the highest incidence and mortality rate in the region compared to the West. In 2020, 60% of global lung cancer cases were diagnosed in the region. At the recent World Conference on Lung Cancer held in Singapore, we witnessed how research and innovation have shifted the landscape of #lungcancer treatment, and improved outcomes for patients with early-stage of the disease. But, unfortunately, late diagnoses are prevalent in Asia Pacific. This is why it is more important than ever that we continue our efforts to improve outcomes for those living with late-stage lung cancer here. #MSDAPAC #WCLC2023

Today Feb 4 is World Cancer Day! https://lnkd.in/e4e6nVes https://www.uicc.org Given the statistics it’s likely you know someone who had/has cancer. I do. Breast cancer, prostate cancer (with one uncle still awaiting treatment due to healthcare strikes in Canada 😖), Brain cancer 🧠 (one of the worst with same diagnosis but two doctors proposing different treatment pathways), Colon Cancer (taking a good friend away way too young from kids), Ovarian Cancer and Esophageal cancer. World Cancer Day and UICC urges governments to promote health equity, improve cancer service access, and reduce disparities in incidence and mortality. Ask your government representative to close the care gap - you can cet involved yourself or via websites above. 🤗 And comment/share this post! #worldcancerday #worldcancerawarenessday #closethecaregap #closethegap #cancer #cancercare #cancer #cancersucks

Men's Health Awareness Month Today, we are focusing on prostate cancer. (Last updated: August 2023 To be reviewed: August 2024) Across the UK Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. - More than 52,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year on average – that's 144 men every day. - Every 45 minutes one man dies from prostate cancer – that's more than 12,000 men every year. - 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. - Around 490,000 men are living with prostate cancer. How can we support these men in the workplace? "While each person’s cancer journey is unique, building meaningful connections with other men who have faced similar challenges, can offer a valuable platform for open discussions about the most difficult and personal aspects of cancer treatment." Peer support groups can be incredibly beneficial. Have you considered setting one up in your organization? Organisations like "Prostate Cancer UK" "Tackle Prostate Cancer" can help you with this? It only takes one person willing to support others to get started. #Prostate #ProstateCancer #Cancer #MensHealth #Health #MensHealthAwarenessMonth

♂️ Prostate cancer is a significant global health concern, ranking as the 4th most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide and resulting in nearly 400,000 deaths annually. It is crucial for individuals to be aware of their risk factors and be vigilant in recognising early symptoms of prostate cancer to ensure prompt diagnosis and treatment. 💙 Fortunately, survival rates for prostate cancer are among the highest for any cancer, particularly when the disease is detected early. Let us continue to raise awareness and prioritise men's health during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month this March. Every year on August 1st, World Lung Cancer Day is observed to raise awareness and educate people worldwide about the serious issues of lung cancer, as well as to raise the desire to focus more on lung cancer research and to arrange financial and moral support for it. Lung cancer often doesn't cause signs and symptoms in its earliest stages. Lung cancer signs and symptoms typically occur when the disease is in its advanced stage. It is most common in both smokers and those exposed to second-hand smoke. It is also one of the most common cancers in the Male population in developing countries. . . . #lungcancer #pulmomology #cancer #lungs #awareness #who #healthcare #MyMedicalPanel #medical #healthcareprofessionals #medicalprofessionals #medicalresearch #medicalcommunity #marketresearch #healthcareindustry

NOW ONLINE Being overweight after #ColorectalCancer diagnosis might affect your health. Read more in this special report by World Cancer Research Fund 🔓 OPEN ACCESS ➡️https://lnkd.in/gXMKSEuY The influence of adiposity on colorectal cancer prognosis remains poorly characterised. Here, as part of CUP Global, the evidence on post-diagnosis adiposity and colorectal cancer outcomes was systematically synthesised using standardised criteria, and a non-linear dose–response meta-analysis was conducted for the first time. Reverse J-shaped associations were observed between post-diagnosis BMI and all-cause mortality, colorectal cancer-specific mortality, and recurrence. Synthesised studies on other adiposity–outcome associations were limited in number and methodological quality. All evidence was graded as ‘limited—no conclusion’ for the likelihood of causality due to potential methodological limitations, calling for additional well-designed observational studies and intervention trials.

Today is world Cancer Research Day! For stage 4 patients like me, research is a beacon of HOPE, a light in the darkest night. Cancer research has proven to -🐌slow the progression of the disease -📈improve survival rates - 🙌 give better quality of life for those affected Closing the care gap requires not only affordable healthcare but also equal access to treatment options for every one. We ALL deserve a chance for hope and healing! Every day thousands of patients seek access and opportunity but many times it’s not achieved. Even after a facing metastatic gyn cancer to the lung, it took me three rounds of failed chemo treatments and additional metastasis to the mediastinum, pleura, and the upper lobe to be able to access a trial drug. It’s been 2 years, and PET CT scans show no evidence of disease. If only I could have accessed it earlier… if only many of my chemo buddies would have been able to access this… maybe they would still be here. #lungcancer #cancerresearch #worldcancerresearchday #achieveequity https://lnkd.in/evSUDfMf

To break the stigma on colorectal cancer, we launched The State of Stool Stigma Survey. Here’s what we found: 👉 Nearly 60% of people surveyed have never talked to a loved one or healthcare provider about colorectal cancer 👉 80% of people surveyed have never done a preventive at-home screening test 👉 75% of people surveyed mistakenly think family history is the biggest risk factor, whereas lifestyle factors are likely larger factors Early detection saves lives. Our FIT Colon Cancer Screening Test is a simple, non-invasive way to screen for colon cancer regularly from the comfort of home: https://bit.ly/3P7RXRf #ColorectalCancerAwarenessMonth #ColonCancer #Screening

Today is #NETCancerDay. To mark NET Cancer Day 2023, we’re starting conversations about the signs and symptoms of Neuroendocrine tumours (NETs), so #LetsTalkAboutNETs! NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia estimates that Australians living with NETs wait an average of 5+ years for a diagnosis. NETs can easily be missed, and cases are often misdiagnosed as other conditions like irritable bowel syndrome, gastritis, abdominal pain and asthma. You may be surprised to learn that #NeuroendocrineCancer is Australia’s 7th most commonly diagnosed cancer. At #IpsenANZ, we’re committed to working with healthcare providers and patient support networks to improve the time to diagnosis for Australians living with NETs. Learn more about the signs and symptoms of #NETCancer here: https://bit.ly/47q73YT
