Nailing the Opener: How Your First Interview is the March Madness of Job Hunting" Imagine stepping onto the court, the buzz of the crowd in your ears, the weight of anticipation heavy in the air. This isn't just any game; it's March Madness, where every play can lead to glory or defeat. Now, swap the basketball for your resume, and welcome to the ultimate showdown of your career: your first job interview. Just like in March Madness, where the opening game sets the tone for a team's journey, your initial interview is the make-or-break moment that could catapult you towards the championship trophy – your dream job. Here, strategy is key, and preparation is your best play. Would it be rude to go today without a pancake related pun on LinkedIn? It seems the answer is yes 🥞 Pancake day has been flipping positive so far, with Interviews scheduled for more permanent opportunities, and have met a very credible candidate today. Certainly given us a few things to consider which is very exciting. Things look to be opening up in the logistics world too which is very pleasing to see. Long may that continue. If you've got a role that has been open for a few weeks and you're struggling to fill it, why not let me show you what I can do to make your life easier. You might find that the cost of reaching out for external recruitment, is less than the cost of having a position vacant for an extended period of time. 📱 07791991352 📧 dan.pearce@irweb.co.uk #recruitment #logistics #production #northampton #recruiting

Over the years, I've had the opportunity to assess and sit in on interviews for various retail roles. I've always taken pride in my ability to determine who would be a good fit for the job. One lesson I've learned is to not discount an applicant's previous role or experience. Regardless of whether they come from a fast food chain or if this is their first real job, we should allow them to speak to their experiences and what they've handled. It's important to keep an open mind and give all applicants a fair chance. You may be pleasantly surprised by the amount of knowledge they have to offer. Let's focus on what they can bring to the table and not make assumptions based on their current or previous position. #jobinterview #retailjobs #hiringtips

Taking a Trip Down Memory Lane to My First Job 😄 Everyone has to start somewhere! My first job was a temporary position at Dollor General, where I helped set up two new stores for grand openings. What struck me about that role was how quickly I was hired without much of an interview process. 🤔 While the lack of vetting had no effect on my work ethic, it did teach me the importance of being on time and putting in an honest day's work - lessons that have stayed with me ever since. Those early experiences shaped my perspective on work. Looking back, it is amazing how much I have changed since those early days. Work has been quite a journey! 🚶♂️ For example, not having robust interview experience early on made it more challenging to progress in my career. 😣 But it taught me to take advantage of opportunities to improve my interview skills. 💡 I still chuckle thinking about getting up before sunrise for that first job since I am NOT a morning person! 😴 It helped me realize I’m more productive working evenings. 🌙 What was your first job experience like? 🤔 Did you have any funny first-job stories or cringe-worthy moments? 😆 I'd love to hear your stories and perspectives on how early roles impacted you! 👂 Share your first-job reflections in the comments. 💬 #Laurens30Day #FirstJob #CareerJourney #StartSomewhere #WeAllStartSomewhere #CareerThrowback

Job hunting can be quite an adventure, especially when you're just starting out. I remember the early days of my career journey when preparing for interviews turned me into a job-seeking superhero! 🦸♂️ Each interview felt like a new opportunity, a sweet anticipation, like kids in front of an ice cream truck. 🍦 But today, I want to share one of my weirdest job interview experiences from those early years. I went for an interview for a role as a clerk – or at least, that's what I thought when I received the invitation. Well, it turned out I was a bit 'off the mark' because, at the end of the interview, the employer confided in me that they were looking for a pizza maker! 🍕 And all this because I once studied at Vocational College of Hospitality and Tourism Maribor, which sounded like a 'pizza guru.' It was truly a moment when I said to myself, 'WTH!' In the end, I didn't land the job of a pizza maker. Instead, I turned to the director and said, 'You know, it seems we're not on the same page here. I don't have any experience with pizza making – heck, I don't particularly enjoy cooking!' 😄 So, I decided to turn down the job right there on the spot. It was one of the most unexpected moments in my early 'job seeker' adventure. 😂 What about the most unusual interview experiences from your early career days? Share them in the comments, as we can all be a source of inspiration and laughter together! 💼😄 #JobSeekerAdventures #CareerJourney #InterviewStories #RecruitmentFail #EarlyCareerBlunders

It's easy to get caught up in the notion that job hunting is a one-way street - the company has the upper hand. But it's not. 𝘠𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶. Ask questions. Understand their culture. Assess if their values align with yours. Remember, you’re not just looking for 𝘢 𝘫𝘰𝘣. You're looking for the 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘫𝘰𝘣. That's a big difference that can completely change the trajectory of your career for the better.

#JobHuntJoy | Dreaming of working at your favorite store? Read this Delfi Lietuva article for expert tips (find the link in the comments)! Here's the lowdown with all the sparkly bits for our international friends. Flashback to four years ago: Ema Butkevičiūtė was trying her luck for a store consultant position. Fast forward to today, she's our Retail Group Manager, calling the shots in recruitment, and sharing her pearls of wisdom on how to nail that job interview, and maybe, just maybe, kick off a serious career. 🍬 PLAY UP YOUR STRENGTHS: Emphasize your positive qualities and skills during job interviews, rather than focusing solely on your job expectations. Value all experiences that have equipped you with relevant skills, even those not directly related to retail. 🍬 BE TRANSPARENT: Honesty is key. Clearly communicate whether you're here for a season or for keeps. 🍬 LOOK BEYOND THE PAYCHECK: While fair compensation is vital, also consider other motivating factors like learning opportunities, friendships, and career prospects within the company. 🍬 SHOW FLEXIBILITY: In the ever-changing world of retail, demonstrating your ability to adapt and maintain a positive attitude can set you apart. 🍬 EXPRESS GRATITUDE: A quick thank-you note can leave a lasting impression after the interview. It’s these small gestures that keep you on the radar. From the initial stages of the job search to the final negotiations, Paige was more than helpful. Paige ensured that she had a good understanding of my skills, aspirations, and the specific requirements for the job. Throughout the process, her communication was transparent and timely. Paige kept me well-informed about the process. Two of the standout qualities of Paige were her commitment to building a genuine connection, as well as being persistent with myself and her management regarding what I was looking for. Paige made it her mission to get myself and Johns&Co to agree on certain terms to get the interviews scheduled. Paige also invested time in understanding not only my professional background but also my personality and work preferences. Decorate your job search with specificity. 🏡✨ Ever noticed how a staged home sells better? It's the details – that vase of fresh flowers, the just-right throw pillows – that make you see not just a house, but a home. It's the same with job hunting. Crafting your resume with precise achievements and data is like arranging furniture in an open house. It invites the hiring managers to envision your impact in their workspace. In your job search, targeting companies is like choosing the right neighborhood – you want the perfect fit for your lifestyle (or career!). And nailing the interview with well-rehearsed answers and examples? That's like baking cookies right before the open house. #jobsearch #careerchange #CareerAdvice #CareerDevelopment #ProfessionalGrowth
