"The world needs a rapid transition to clean, renewable energy to address air pollution, climate, and energy security issues. Here, roadmaps to transition 145 countries to 100% clean, renewable WWSenergyandstorage across all energy sectors are developed. The full transition should occur no later than 2050, but ideally by 2035, with no less than 80% by 2030. Grid stability analyses are performed after the countries are divided into 24 world regions. No-load-loss solutions are found in all regions for the three-year period, 2050–2052. Costs are estimated, and sensitivity tests are performed to examine the impacts of several factors on them. Across 145 countries, a transition to 100% WWS reduces the annual base-case private energy cost by 62.7% (from $17.8 down to $6.6 trillion per year in 2020 USD) compared with BAU. This is due to 56.4% less end-use energy consumption and a 14.3% lower private cost per unit energy. WWS reduces the annual social energy cost (private cost plus health and climate costs) by 92% (from $83.2 to $6.6 trillion per year) because WWS eliminates health ($33.6 trillion per year) and climate ($31.8 trillion per year) costs along with reducing private energy costs. These results suggest a substantial private and social cost benefit of transitioning. The results are consistent with previous studies despite the new data and the differences in approach compared with those studies. Robustness across independent studies strengthens the case that a clean, renewable energy future is possible."

So true, maybe reality is catching up 🤔? Some quotes: “ Not only for German consumers, the green energy transition has so far turned out to be extremely expensive. In addition to Denmark, electricity costs nowhere in Europe as much as in this country.” “ The green transformation has not been a good deal for investors either so far. All German listed companies that are involved in the energy transition have destroyed a stock market value of a good 30 billion euros from the respective high in recent years.” “ Siemens Energy may also be a particularly blatant example of the values that the energy transition companies have sunk in recent years because of mismanagement. But other companies could not benefit from the fact that billions were invested in Germany's green conversion.” Losses in all ends, by consumers, investors and with no Trilemma solutions in sight. Das führt dazu, dass das Abfallaufkommen rasant ansteigt. Dabei enthalten Windräder große Mengen wertvoller Rohstoffe und Hightech-Materialien, die in den Kreislauf zurückgeführt werden können. Dass das auch heute schon machbar ist, zeigen die innovativen Beispiele im Film „Rückenwind“. To achieve this, old turbines must be replaced with new ones as part of the repowering process. This leads to a rapid increase in the amount of waste generated. At the same time, wind turbines contain large quantities of valuable raw materials and high-tech materials that can be recycled. The innovative examples in the film " Rückenwind" (Tailwind) show that this is already feasible today. The future belongs to #directcurrent This was the headline of an article from November 2012 by Bernd Schöne in the daily newspaper Welt. Although the article was written almost twelve years ago, it is still highly relevant. Due to technological developments, but above all due to the political, economic and social developments of recent years, the topic of #directcurrent is more relevant than ever. If the German government's goal of becoming carbon-neutral by 2045 is to be achieved, the generation of a large proportion of energy from green energy sources will be a basic requirement. And the establishment of direct current will play a decisive role in being able to utilise this generated energy so efficiently and sustainably. "In future, it will be very important to be able to adapt electricity demand to the current supply of renewable energy sources. This will require intelligent control and regulation technology. The DC buildings of the future are a component of the so-called smart grid of the electricity supply. By combining information and electrical technology, different energy sources and electricity consumers can be networked in such a way that both security of supply and a high proportion of renewable energy can be achieved." In the context of the German “Kraftwerksstrategie” we answered the following questions in our H2-readiness study: 👉 Do we need new thermal power plants (in Germany) in the next 10 to 25 years? 👉 Do they need to be politically incentivised? 👉 Why can’t they be built as hydrogen power plants in the first place? 👉 Is there a H2-ready definition in European and German regulations? And what could be H2-ready in technical terms? 👉 What are the differences in the conversion of different power plant types from H2-ready to H2-capable. 👉 Does it have to be renewable (green) hydrogen or can we use blue hydrogen as well to reduce the GHG emissions? 👉 Does the planned hydrogen piping infrastructure (European Hydrogen Backbone) consider power plant sites as consumers? Sie zeigen in einer aktuellen Studie, was H2-Ready für Gaskraftwerke technisch bedeutet, welche Maßnahmen für eine Umrüstung notwendig sind, welche Kosten entstehen und welche Rechtsvorschriften angepasst werden müssen. 📌 In 14 Kernaussagen formulieren sie Vorschläge für den klimafreundlichen Einsatz von H2 in der Stromerzeugung.
