[Step by Step] For the first time, the psychological aspect of Ichthyosis, a rare skin disease, is being taken into account. 📝 Ichthyosis is characterized by excessive skin dryness and scaling, affecting approximately 1 in 200,000 people worldwide, with significant impact on the well-being of patients. #PierreFabre Laboratories’ Patient Centricity team, in partnership with 4 patient associations: Association Ichtyose France in 🇫🇷, ASIC Asociación Española de Ictiosis in 🇪🇸, Unione Italiana Ittiosi in 🇮🇹 and Ichthyosis Support Group in 🇬🇧 and the company EMMA, conducted the first study at a European level to explore the influence of this condition on patients' lives. 🇪🇺 The survey highlights the negative impact of ichthyosis on their quality of life, both physically and psychologically. It also stresses out the importance of patient participation in medical research, allowing them to be heard and to contribute to the improvement of their medical care. The results of this survey have just been published in the prestigious British Journal of Dermatology, a leading journal in the field of dermatology, and is available online : https://lnkd.in/e6wCx29w #NewWaysToCare #Dermatology #PatientCare #Medical #Research

Many people don't know that Science 37 was actually founded by two dermatologists almost 10 years ago. 👨⚕️ 👨⚕️ That's only one of the reasons why our model works great for your dermatology studies. Clearly, it can be challenging to identify and support patients who have not previously participated in a clinical trial, or used medications that might be exclusionary for a particular study. Because of these particular dynamics, decentralized clinical trials present a unique solution as they enable expansive reach and access. Click the link in the comments and find out how our model accelerated enrollment for a dermatology trial! #dermatology #DCT #science37

The American Academy of Dermatology have designated November as #nationalhealthyskinmonth in the US, which is an annual event for people involved in #dermatology to emphasise the importance of being #skinaware and to share tips for healthy skin practice. https://lnkd.in/epK2JBBY With #melanoma being the most aggressive form of #skincancer, and with the incidence rising globally, we urge everyone to check their skin for abnormal moles or unusual changes and to see a doctor with any concerns. Caught early, melanoma is more treatable and only around 20% of of Stage I and II melanomas progress. Despite this, many patients experience extreme levels of stress and anxiety around diagnosis and the currently recommended intensive follow-up schedule. With our #AMBLor prognostic technology, available from Avero Diagnostics, early-stage melanomas at genuine low-risk of progression can be more accurately identified. This can provide patients with peace of mind and also help inform clinical decision making. Find our more: https://lnkd.in/dE9D2fwa
