Historic move: NCERT to replace 'India' with 'Bharat' in school textbooks for all classes! The council is set to change how students are educated about Indian history. By replacing the 'India' word with that of 'Bharat,' it aims to guide students with the deep-rooted historical Indian value that dates back centuries. In addition, the panel has recommended the adoption of 'classical history' nomenclature, replacing 'ancient history' in textbooks. According to a member of ICHR- 'Our failures are presently mentioned in the textbooks. But our victories over the Mughals and sultans are not.' Therefore, by introducing IKS- Indian Knowledge System in all classes, the panel aims to educate students about the victories of our Indian Kings and Queens. For ages, the Indian Education System has included topics on the Mughal Dynasty and their contribution to India; however, it taught very little about the Indian Kings and Queens. This move by National Council of Educational Research and Training ( NCERT ) will teach generations about our identity & provide students with a holistic and inclusive perspective of 'Bharat,' thus enabling them to connect with their heritage and the broader world. #ncert #education #bharat

The prime minister of India Shri Narendra Damodardas Modi inaugurated the mighty Nalanda University in Bihar, India, which was one of the world's earliest residential universities, founded around the 5th century CE during the Gupta dynasty rule. It was renowned for its excellence in education, attracting scholars from across Asia, including China, Korea, Japan, Tibet, Mongolia, Turkey, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia. The university was a hub for learning, offering courses in subjects such as Buddhist studies, philosophy, theology, mathematics, medicine, and logic. At its peak, Nalanda accommodated thousands of students and teachers within its extensive campus, comprising temples, meditation halls, libraries, and lecture halls. It was a center of intellectual debate and research, fostering a vibrant academic environment. However, in the 12th century, Nalanda University was ransacked and destroyed by invading Turkic forces led by Bakhtiyar Khilji. The destruction resulted in the loss of countless manuscripts and the dispersion of scholars, marking the end of Nalanda's golden era. In recent decades, efforts have been made to revive Nalanda University as a modern institution of higher learning. 1500+ years ago, When the #World had little idea about formal education to the masses, we had an International Residential #University that had 10K+ students and 2500+ teachers. That's #Nalanda !! living testament to the enduring spirit of #India's advanced #educational pursuit. The legacy of the university goes back to Buddha's and Mahavira's era reflecting ancient India's advancement towards disseminating knowledge and wisdom. The university was in operation between 5th century and 12th century. Its embrace of diversity, meritocracy, freedom of thought, collective governance, autonomy, and knowledge sharing align with the core principles of democracy.
