Even though I spend most of my time on the investing side, I still build (relentlessly) as a creative outlet and a way to learn. As a challenge, I wanted to see if I could go from idea to deployment just using chatGPT. Turns out I could! After 3 nights of build (and 5 of debugging 🤬), here is https://www.listly.one, an easy way to create and build multiple mailing lists.

The career tip on Friday! How can you get better at the technology of your choice? With ChatGPT, of course! What a question! 😉 But how exactly...? Describe in very detail your requirement for some needed code, for example. Then, spend hours researching, debugging, logging, and all the rest of the classic stuff to finally get it working! ;) Batteries included were yesterday; now it's all about new virtual colleagues and their smelling code. Feel free to subscribe for more tips like that one.

Bringing experience from biotech R&D to data, analytics, and AI strategy. Technology isn't like biology—it is biology.
Me: That was a great talk, but I am now convinced RAG isn't a thing. Brie Dubinsky: You really like to push people's buttons, don't you? Yes, I do. And, I also think that RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) represents a pretty simple concept that unfortunately got a highly technical name that obscures what is actually being talked about. If I want to use ChatGPT to summarize a paper, I'm obviously not going to put all the papers I have into the prompt. I'm just going to give it the one I want to summarize. Have I done RAG? Say I don't remember where the paper is saved, and I use a search function. That search may or may not use embeddings, I don't know. Is that RAG? You see where this is going. You can build complex software systems for automating this process and making it more precise using relatively general purpose technologies, but I don't think any of this makes it RAG. I think you're just automating the way people intuitively interact with LLMs. Thoughts?

Fullstack + blockchain developer | I solve problems with tech | whizzy | building aperturs | I shitpost so dont mind me
Hey ChatGPT-4, even after we went premium, you know how to take someone on a wild goose chase! Spent 4-5 hours today piecing together advice, and debugging like a mad scientist, only to realize it wasn’t even what I needed! 🤦♂️ A quick Google search, a couple of blog reads, and one YouTube video later, I solved it in 30 mins. Talk about efficiency, huh? lesson for the day: confirm with chatgpt if it understood what you want to achieve and can the way it suggested do it

Where do you draw the line? I admit I use to to debug code, convert a group of bullet points into a few paragraphs or even ask it to summarise an article for me. To me it is very obvious when an article is written and modified by a person vs ChatGPT so know how to react https://lnkd.in/e6-uDXEa

It’s interesting to compare the topics of conversation from SF/LA tech weeks (several months ago) to now. Back then, it was “let me tell you about what I did with ChatGPT.” Now, it’s certainly a tired way to start a conversation. Instead, technical folks are talking about what they built on OS models, new applications, etc. Increasingly, everyone, technical or not will be saying “look how I built MY model” or “I trained one of my Personal AIs on x, y, z and it’s brilliant” Why? Because everyone can do it, and everyone has their own style and purpose that cannot be captured by a one-size-fits-all model.

What drives you to get up in the morning and spend all day in front of a computer? For me it is: 1. Providing software components that help generate more monetary value to the business my company is in. 2. Helping other co-workers with their work and careers 3. Assist in driving insight and clarity to complex systems to be more concise and intuitive to their users. After I wrote this I'm thinking ChatGPT could have written it better!

When devs ask ChatGPT or on forums about why some code doesn't work, most answers should follow this pattern: - - - Here's the part of the docs you OBVIOUSLY HAVEN'T READ: [snippet from docs] [link to docs] - - - This way, devs would also practice to read/navigate the docs.

Boss: “Hey, so how’s it going?” You: “Ok ok.. All ok” That has got to be the most boring answer! 😅 How to make it more interesting, and more importantly, more meaningful? Here’s an idea: highlight the current progress, challenges, and/or upcoming plan. Sounds simple, but not many can convey these elegantly. Here are some examples rephrased from ChatGPT: 1. “It's going well. We've completed about 70% of the project, and I've come across some interesting insights along the way. Would you like a brief update?” 2. “We've made good progress on the main tasks. There are a few challenges we're addressing, but I'll have solutions in place by tomorrow.” 3. “It's been a productive week! We surpassed our target, and I've also found some areas we can improve for the next phase.” 4. “Things are moving forward. I've learned a lot from the recent training, and I'm applying those techniques to our current projects.” It might help that before you’re asked, be constantly prepared with how to answer these: what’s the current progress, challenges, and upcoming plan.
