Serious question: If your role is SRE, and your applicant has Sys Ops, DevOps, Engineering, etc., but not specifically “SRE” does your recruiter automatically drop the resume? Or does your recruiting software? Is there not a recognized overlap for the purposes of hiring?

Does it pay more to be a Platform engineer or DevOps? We're compiling the report for the state of the Kubernetes job market for 2023, and this really struck me: if you consider just the highest-paying role, DevOps beats platform engineering! But if in doubt, you should really move into SRE 😅 As usual, you can find all the (Kubernetes) jobs on Kube Careers https://kube.careers And stay tuned: the full report will be ready at the end of the month!

What's the salary range for a Kubernetes engineer? Do you need a Kubernetes certification to apply for a job? What technologies should I learn next to land my next job? We analyzed 123 Kubernetes jobs for the second quarter of 2023 and found that: 📈 The average Kubernetes job pays €80,864 in Europe and $129,802 in North America. 🧓 87% of the total listings are seeking senior engineers. 🌎 There's a significant drop in fully-remote positions (from 22% in 2022 to 2% today). 🦊 GitLab CI isn't the top CI tool (with 21% mentions): Jenkins (37%) has passed it again 😭. John asks why Executives and Managers are expected to understand technologies. My software development teams like that I have done their jobs: business analysis, UI design, databases, programming, etc. They know I know their challenges, and I will provide a miracle if they get lost. My resume is targeted as Software Developer because recruiters do not handle management roles. I solve problems. I understand people, business, technologies (plus animals, music, and everything else.) I make every project successful. "Every project" does not involve IT. I handled business strategy, manufacturing efficiency, risk assessment, and other non-IT projects. Yesterday, a friend suggested I help a huge company which realized MBA-type people will never reverse their downfall. I would need experts in many topics which I have not used lately. I might need to move to Germany. I do not know how to present myself for consideration. Why does everyone want me to help with manufacturing? Singapore, Audubon (local town), Germany... Should I stop seeking software work and focus on miraculous management of huge projects? 20231110
Helping you become a better software engineer through coding challenges that build real applications.
Why does a Senior Director of Software Engineering need to know Kubernetes? The role: ✅ Lead and scale a multi-team software engineering capability across multiple, development areas and products. ✅ Contribute to strategic initiatives for the engineering organisation. ✅ Develop and maintain strong working relationships with product management and other relevant functions. ✅ Build highly motivated teams, while providing strong leadership, mentorship and career development. ✅ Establish and drive a sense of community within the engineering teams. The skillset: ❌ Java, Go or Node.js. ❌ SQL & NoSQL Databases. ❌ Networking IP/TCP/UDP/HTTP. ❌ Container management with Kubernetes. ❌ Hands-on experience with technologies such as AWS. No wonder so many senior managers don’t have the leadership or strategic skills to do a good job. This is a role that is currently being advertised, minor details changed to protect the guilty.
