What is it like to be an author - Post two... 🎥 With Video Two I break down the process of writing a book and what you need to go through to get it ready for publishing. It's a multi-process journey that can take more than a year to complete before the final book is ready to be placed in the reader's hands. I hope you like the behind-the-curtain look at this process, at least from my perspective. I am told I write my books quite quickly with each one on average taking around three months to write. 🎥 Video three I thought I would talk about what happens as an author once the book is published or even just ready to be published. Remember that when writing to your reader, they want to know what is in it for them. This applies to fiction as much as non fiction. Beware of making generalised statements about what your book does and beware of putting your beliefs about yourself as an author and your book too much at the centre. Allow your readers to think for themselves and to decide for themselves ultimately what relationship they will have personally with your book. All you can do is guide them by introducing them to your book - making as compelling a case for it as possible by showing what it means to you in terms of why you wrote it (or your mission in writing it.) But then, take a step back and allow the reader to draw their own conclusions. Books have great power to change lives and minds.
