During my tenure as a part-time Neutrogena Beauty Advisor at Watsons Malaysia, I had the valuable opportunity to immerse myself in the captivating world of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) personal care marketing. Being on the frontline, interacting with customers from diverse backgrounds, and understanding their preferences, I gained profound insights into consumer behavior and trends within the personal care industry. These invaluable learnings have provided me with a deeper appreciation for the power of marketing strategies in driving product awareness and sales. Working closely with the marketing team, I observed how effective promotional campaigns, product positioning, and branding efforts contribute to shaping consumer perceptions. This experience has broadened my understanding of the intricate relationship between sales, marketing, and customer experience in the FMCG sector. I have also had the privilege to witness the impact of digital marketing on the beauty and personal care landscape. As social media and e-commerce platforms continue to shape consumer interactions, I recognized the significance of staying up-to-date with emerging trends to remain competitive in this rapidly evolving industry. These learnings have not only enriched my professional acumen but have also inspired me to pursue further knowledge and specialization in FMCG personal care marketing. I am excited to combine my passion for beauty and sales with a strategic marketing mindset, to contribute meaningfully to this dynamic and ever-changing field. I can't think of many more important decisions I made in my life than where I began my career journey. I kicked off as a Saturday lad at JJB Sports, Parkgate, Rotherham. Stacking shelves, stock room runs to grab trainers and the most thrilling part, learning how to use the Football shirt number/name printing machine! - Once in '94 I put "9 - Shearer" on the back of a Man Utd home shirt, when he looked nailed on to go there...bet that jersey didn't get much airtime ;-) Anyway, this job set me up with a love for all things retail.
