At our company, nothing matters more than the safety of our team members. That’s why our dedicated Safety team provides regular training on OSHA’s Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) guidelines. What's LOTO? It's all about protecting personnel who work with equipment that can store energy - think electrical breakers, valves, and rotating machinery. By requiring a manual lock from all personnel involved, we ensure that equipment cannot be re-energized until every lock is removed, eliminating uncertainty about the equipment's status. These procedures empower our team members to protect themselves from accidents and injuries. We’re sending a big shoutout to everyone who contributes to this critical safety element — keeping our team members accident- and injury-free! #SafetyFirst

In machine shops, regular maintenance is crucial to keep equipment in optimal condition. However, improper handling during maintenance can lead to serious accidents and injuries. That's where Lockout/Tagout procedures come into play. LOTO involves isolating energy sources and placing locks and tags on machines to prevent accidental start-up or release of stored energy during maintenance or repair work. These procedures protect employees from hazardous energy-related incidents and ensure a safe work environment. Here are key steps for implementing effective LOTO procedures in our machine shop: 1️⃣ Develop a Comprehensive LOTO Program: Establish a written LOTO program that outlines procedures, responsibilities, and employee training requirements. 2️⃣ Identify Energy Sources: Conduct thorough assessments to identify all energy sources associated with each machine. 3️⃣ Use Proper Lockout Devices: Equip each employee with personal lockout devices to secure the machine's energy-isolating devices. 4️⃣ Apply Clear and Visible Tags: Attach clearly labeled tags to indicate the purpose and status of the lockout. 5️⃣ Train Employees: Provide comprehensive training to all employees involved in machine maintenance on LOTO procedures and potential hazards. 6️⃣ Regularly Review and Update: Periodically review and update the LOTO program to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with regulations. By adhering to proper Lockout/Tagout procedures, we prioritize the safety of our team and prevent potentially life-threatening accidents. #MachineShopSafety #LockoutTagout #SafeMaintenance #FridayFocus #ETL #oilandgas #fabrication #offshore #naice2023

What is a lockout tagout LOTO system? Electrical Safety LOTO, UVA-EHS Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) is a set of procedures that are used to ensure that equipment or systems are shut down, inoperable, and (where relevant) de-energized prior to any maintenance or repair work. It is a protection system against unintentional exposure to hazardous energy so that work can be performed safely.

An updated general vision on LOTO basics : LOCKout TAGout (LOTO) LOTO is : A safety procedure use to ensure that dangerous equipment is properly shut off. *purpose* Protect employees. Why is LOTO important : Avoid several incidents. OSHA : Standard for the control of hazards energy. An American Standard PUWER : Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations. Planning : identify the hazards energy sources. Authorized personnel : SKATE = Skilles / Knowledge / Attitude / Training / Experience = Competitive kahoot it Red color : Authorized hands (SKATE). Blue color : Affective person who is directly use the machine during cleaning. Green color : Authorized persons for out of service machines with tag. HASB : locks Handler. If we received 12 locks and more we must to use the LOTO box.

Mastering Lockout/Tagout Procedures! 🔒 In the world of industrial maintenance and repairs, safety isn't just a priority – it's a responsibility we owe to ourselves and our colleagues. Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) is more than just a procedure; it's a vital safeguard against hazardous energy during equipment maintenance or repairs. Whether it's a mechanical press, an electrical panel, or a production line, LOTO helps prevent unexpected startup and ensures everyone's well-being. Imagine having the peace of mind that comes from knowing that a system you've meticulously set up will shield you from potential harm. From securing switches and valves to placing highly visible tags, LOTO empowers us to control energy sources, making sure that only authorized personnel can access them. Implementing LOTO isn't just a regulatory requirement – it's a commitment to creating a work environment where every team member goes home safe and sound every day. So, let's keep the momentum going, share our LOTO experiences, and ensure that safety remains at the core of every task we undertake. #WorkplaceSafety #LOTO #SafetyFirst #IndustrialMaintenance #TeamSafety #HazardousEnergy #SafetyAwareness

Lock out, tag out (LOTO) is a safety procedure used to ensure that dangerous equipment is properly shut off and not able to be started up again prior to the completion of maintenance or repair work. It requires that hazardous energy sources be "isolated and rendered inoperative" before work is started on the equipment in question. The isolated power sources are then locked and a tag is placed on the lock identifying the worker and reason the LOTO is placed on it. The worker then holds the key for the lock, ensuring that only they can remove the lock and start the equipment. This prevents accidental startup of equipment while it is in a hazardous state or while a worker is in direct contact with it. Lockout–tagout is used across industries as a safe method of working on hazardous equipment and is mandated by law in some countries. #accident #lockout #tagout #loto #isolation #safety #safetyfirst

After doing a bit of extra research, I found this quite interesting and wanted to share it with all of you. “LOTO” or let's say Lock Out Tag Out Should we use more “LOTO”??? YES, exactly! But what exactly does “LOTO” mean???? LOTO stands for Lockout/Tagout. It's a safety procedure used in industry and research settings to ensure that dangerous machines and equipment are properly shut off and not able to be started up again until maintenance or servicing work is completed. The process involves isolating the energy sources of the equipment, locking them with a physical lock, and tagging them with a WARNING tag. LOTO procedures are used to ensure the safety of workers during maintenance or repair work by preventing accidental startup of machinery or equipment. It's a critical safety measure to protect against injuries and accidents in the workplace. LOTO procedures typically involve multiple people to ensure safety. While one person may physically apply the locks and tags to isolate energy sources, LOTO protocols usually require coordination and communication among various stakeholders: 1. Authorized Personnel: Those trained and authorized to perform LOTO procedures. 2. Affected Personnel: Workers who may be affected by the shutdown and need to be informed. 3. Supervisors: Responsible for overseeing and verifying the procedure. 4. Safety Officers: Ensuring compliance with safety standards. 5. Equipment Operators: Who may be involved in shutting down or restarting equipment. This multi-person involvement ensures that the procedure is conducted correctly and safely, reducing the risk of accidents or injuries during maintenance or servicing tasks. We, as Aircraft Refueller Company NV., do definitely participate! Please consider not only yourself but also your fellow employees. Only by following this path can we ensure safe and effective work. In this short cartoon you can see the consequences of NOT adhering to the LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedure. #AircraftRefuellerCompany #ARC #CéSAR #safetyfirst #LockOutTagOut #LOTO #goodtoknow #fyp #ThinksmarterNotharder

#hseprofessionals #hsetraining #workpermit #loto #safetyfirst #alwayslearning A Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) permit is a formal document that authorizes and outlines the specific procedures for the lockout and Tagout of energy-isolating devices during maintenance, repair, or servicing of machinery or equipment. This permit is a part of the overall LOTO system, designed to prevent the accidental release of hazardous energy. The LOTO permit typically includes details such as the equipment or machinery involved, the specific energy sources to be locked out, the names of authorized personnel performing the lockout, the date and time of the lockout, and a step-by-step procedure for safely shutting down and securing the equipment. It also provides a checklist to ensure that all necessary steps are followed. The permit system ensures clear communication among workers involved in the maintenance process, helps prevent misunderstandings, and enhances safety by systematically controlling hazardous energy sources.
