Travel, technology, and the prominence of the English language have made it easier to get to the nations. But visa requirements, hostility toward Christianity, and the rising cost of living have made it harder to live overseas. Besides that, the decline of the North American church is shrinking the pool of people to go and people to send. Where does that leave us? Perhaps the way we DO missions needs to evolve. Consider this: While missionaries are banned from 2/3 of the world, professionals who bring skills and experience in business, technology, healthcare, and education are welcomed in just about every country. Our churches are full of people who fit this bill! Are you one of them? You may never have imagined yourself as a missionary, but if you love God, love people, and love your job, you could be the perfect candidate for a NEW way of doing missions in today's world. As long as there are people on the planet who don't know Jesus (or worse, have no access to the gospel at all), missions will still be relevant. We can help you engage your profession and passions to make disciples among the least-reached. We'd love to dream with you about how missions could not only be relevant in the world but relevant to YOUR life. Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. For a working professional seeking work-life balance, Juneteenth holds several layers of significance: 1. Reflection and Awareness: Observing Juneteenth can provide an opportunity for personal reflection on the history and ongoing issues of racial inequality and justice. This awareness can foster a more inclusive and empathetic workplace culture. 2. Community and Connection: Celebrating Juneteenth can strengthen connections within diverse communities, promoting unity and understanding. Participating in community events can be a meaningful way to connect with others outside of the work environment, enriching one's social life. 3. Rest and Rejuvenation: As a recognized federal holiday, Juneteenth offers a break from the regular work routine. This day off can be used for rest, relaxation, and engaging in activities that promote well-being, contributing to a healthier work-life balance. 4. Cultural Competence: Understanding and participating in Juneteenth observances can enhance cultural competence, which is valuable in diverse workplaces. This awareness can improve interpersonal relationships and teamwork, contributing to a more harmonious work environment. 5. Advocacy and Action: For those passionate about social justice, Juneteenth serves as a reminder to advocate for equity and inclusion in the workplace. This advocacy can lead to meaningful changes that improve the work environment for all employees. By observing Juneteenth, professionals can gain a deeper appreciation for history, foster community connections, and take a meaningful break from their work routine, all of which support a balanced and fulfilling professional and personal life.

Every race has been enslaved at some point, it’s just a matter of the when. Today or 5,000 years ago. Because someone that looked like me was enslaved in 874, doesn’t mean I should get anything for it, nor should anyone who was not enslaved in 874 or any time after. Norse slavery lasted hundreds of years in this part of the world until it largely ended working its way back to Denmark in about 1250. Slavery in what we now call Europe would rear its head from time to time through 1500 but not last for long. It was only in about 1530 that North African Muslims enslaved captured European white Christians for forced labor. This lasted until 1780 or so, when the cycle started changing to capturing black Africans, which is what most associate with slavery today. This is only a 1% snapshot of world slavery, because it’s always been, but my intention is clear to any reader. Slavery has impacted all races in some way, at some point. I’m not owed anything and nor are you, regardless of how upset it makes US that our genetic ancestors may have been enslaved. Pictured is Ingólfr Arnarson, first settler of Iceland, commanding one of his Scandinavian slaves to erect a pillar. This site would later be called Reykjavík, Iceland. Built by the whitest of white slaves. We’re all in this together 🌎 🚀, let’s act like it. We have very exciting work to do together, to make sure we’re all still here in 1,000 years, as people. 🤜🏼🤛🏾 #thoughts #history #africa #europe #scandinavia #iceland #denmark #norse #viking #thoughtsbecomethings

🌍🕊️ Standing for Love and Unity 🕊️🌍 Hey friends, I hope this post finds you all in good health and spirits. Today, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of love, understanding, and unity in our world. It's disheartening to see instances where conflicts and tensions arise, hinting at the possibility of another war. In times like these, we must remember the incredible power of our shared humanity. Our world is a beautiful mosaic of cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds, and it's this diversity that makes us strong. Let's choose empathy over animosity, compassion over conflict, and dialogue over division. By standing together, we can create a world where differences are celebrated, where diplomacy triumphs, and where peace flourishes. It's not about ignoring the challenges or disagreements, but rather about addressing them with open hearts and minds. Let's work towards solutions that benefit all, fostering an environment where our children can inherit a legacy of harmony, not hostility. Spread kindness, lend a helping hand, and engage in conversations that bridge gaps. Small acts can make a big difference, and it's up to us to make that difference count. Remember, our shared humanity transcends borders and ideologies. Let's unite to ensure that the path we pave is one of peace, progress, and love. #LoveForHumanity #UnityInDiversity #ChoosePeace 🌎🤝🌷

Jesus' command to "go and make disciples of all nations" hasn't changed.
