🛠 Product Development process plan Working on a #new project is always exciting and seeing the potential of the project is always something to look forward to but where to start? or how to start. There are different levels to developing a product, this is entirely dependent on that products prospects. I. #Thumbnailing- ideations, meaning coming up with ideas. II. #concepts - picking the idea that fits the specification the best. III. #analysis - testing the product by the cost/benefits, the environment it needs to be used in. IV. #Development- making the final prototypes, making final minute changes, making BOM (Bill of material). V. #launch - launching the project which is the final stage of the product #development plan, this includes having a #marketing plan and product sales pitch. #new #newproduct #design #development #plan #lifecycle #designengineer

"A prototype is how you visualize your idea before any development" Karin Garcia Moreno This is the best way I've seen it described and makes it easy to distinguish it with an MVP. "Think of it as the form you give to your idea. The form it could take to actually deliver the value proposition without the functionality yet. The form you need to communicate what the product is about and to make crystal clear what the value proposition is. A prototype enables you to see how the product will look like. But it has no actual functionality. It comes from the industrial production of goods where it was used mostly internally to communicate with designers and/or engineers so that they understand what they were after. I like to think of it as the packaging box of a product" Karin Garcia Moreno

Engineering dilemma: Raise your hand if you can relate! Designing your cool new product relies on some new widget—but you’re not sure whether you should design your own or buy one from a supplier. While you're debating the decision with yourself, your team is pulling you every which way. 🛠️ The engineers are itching to design it themselves, and they might have even started already in secret. 🛠️ The manufacturing team doesn’t want to build it, let alone inspect it. 🛠️ The marketing team doesn’t much care but promised you’d be in production... tomorrow. 🛠️ Finance is worried about cost-of-goods-sold, but your capital budget is already over-committed on this project. 🛠️ Your test and development team is stressed and not looking for more work. 🛠️ Your legal team is worried about IP and liability. It goes on and on. What should you do? To give you a straightforward way to decide, we identified six tests that will enable you to make the decision with confidence.
